There is a reluctancy to offer any information concerning anything upon arrival. Beware a certain female receptionist: she was very rude and unhelpful in terms of purchasing bus tickets (these have to be purchased from the newsagents). The previous day a different receptionist was happy to sell us bus tickets. The following day the certain female receptionist forced us to cross the (dangersously busy) road to buy them from the newsagents, haughtily saying that they only sold them when the newsagents was closed. ???!!!! Certainly not service with a smile. Breakfast here is terrible- the coffee is sludge. This was the cheapest hotel available due to renovation works. I would not pay for this hotel at full price. Okay, firstly i'm not fussy. Would rather have money in my pocket than stay somewhere over the top... Thought when i booked this being a 3 star i was getting good value for money but obviously Venice/Mestre is extremely pricey for hotels. When my hubbie and I arrived, (i booked hotel) he was like "oh my god" and i started to panic. The reception area was so old-fashioned and naf... and the flooring left alot to desire. The lifts were hilarious - we were petrified getting in, i've never seen the like, you opened a door and there was the lift - tiny... very amusing. Our room was the 3 B's - Big, Bare and Basic!!! I read another review before going and they mentioned the shower having no tray and i thought, talk about fussy... but when i saw it i realised why. The shower was a drip - and i mean a drip.... when you had one it soaked the entire room, including the toilet, toilet roll etc (tip: remove toilet roll from holder before showering)!!! We were in a room to the front and the windows/walls were made from partitioning of a steel structure or plastic and with the heat the contracted all night and were so loud. No airconditioning either so you had to leave the window opened and it was like a construction site outside - so loud. I'd usually sleep through a demolition but for some reason i struggled in the Delfino!! Breakfast consisted of: Horrible coco pops, and ham and cheese rolls...tea, coffee the end!!! The bar was not opened at any stage of our 3 day! Read Less

The hotel is situated on a main road in Mestre, with few bars or cafes nearby, but it is only 10 minutes walk from the older and more interesting part of town with its square, many good bars, restaurants etc. However, the no. 4 buses for Venice stop right outside the hotel and run every 5-10 minutes. The journey to Venice takes about 10 minutes and costs 1 euro. So if you want a cheap, good hotel with easy and convenient access to Venice, 10 minutes walk from the bus and train station etc, the Delfino is a good choice. Read Less

I think the price was very good for a place near Venice. Everything was fine and the staff was kind and helpful. Only one thing I want to note: The fridge was closed and I would have had to go down to the lobby to get the key to open it. I was already in my pujamas when I realised that. So I decided to go to bed without a drink. Do you relly fear people would plunder your fridge if you had not had it secured? Read Less
