The Location...

The Canal and Walter Hotel is located at a distance of 12 km from the Venice Marco Polo Airport, and the approximate driving time is 30 minutes. Venice-Mestre railway station is connected to the airport by a bus service that runs every 20 minutes. Guests can take the ATVO express bus from the airport which arrives in the Piazzale Roma. The hotel is an easy 5 minute walk from there. Also available is a regular water-boat service and water taxis which run from the airport to Venice. Getting about the city is made convenient by the Santa Lucia train station which is just 200 meters away from the hotel.

The hotel is situated in Santa Croce which is about a 10/15 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco and is close to two of the four bridges which cross the Grand Canal. You can watch the Traghetti gondola ferries cross the Grand Canal at various points or better yet enjoy a ride in one of them. 

Area attractions also include the Church of Saint Simon the Small (50 meters), Bridge of Barefoot Carmelite Sisters (to Santa Croce Quarter) - 150 meters, Piazzale Roma (200 meters), Ca`d`Oro - (600 meters), Rialto Bridge (900 meters) and St. Mark`s Square (2 kilometers). Guests can also visit the nearby restaurants Al Ponte di Rialto and Osteria da Fiore where they can experience some excellent dishes and authentic cuisine.
