The position of the hotel was excellent as all places of interest (both old and new) were within walking distance.
The bar was very small, but as there were several bars in the immediate vicinity this did not bother us.
We found the hotel staff very helpful at reception, and their understanding and use of English was good.

The only problem we encountered was that the fried eggs were cold on the first morning. When we questionned this the staff immediately agreed to provide hot ones and did so each morning theafter without being prompted.I would recommend the hotel and would go back. << Click here to read less

I had previously read about the noise of other people showering or using the loo, but this wasn't a major problem. The hotel was located in a very convenient position, close to centre and all bus/metro stops. The room was a little on the small size, as was the bathroom but adequate, clean and comfortable. The breakfast would have been o.k. but items ran out and not replaced quick enough. the cereal was boring and the cooked items i.e. fried egg, bacon and frankfurter sausages were stone cold and frequently non existent. The toaster was infuriatingly slow, but the rolls, croissants, bread butter etc were pleasant and in plentiful supply. Very good breakfast good selection staff very good filling coffee pot all the time to may sure coffee was hot.Only thing was the smell during the night from the bathroom area which was the sewage or from the toilets this did wake me as it was quite a strong smell , also other guest not thinking when they return that poeple are trying to sleep and banging there door close or having quite a loud conversation in the hall away after midnight but what can you expect from Italians they are just normally |LOUD. but besides this I did enjoyed my stay and would return again . << Click here to read less

The Catalonia Excelsior Hotel is in a very good, central position. You couldn`t really get better.The room was quite small for a double room but adequate. My only complaint about this hotel was the quality of the breakfast. Everything was cold. The fried eggs had obviously been sitting for quite some time. Indeed, even the coffee was cold. The hotel has an excellent central location.Reception staff are very professional and helpful speaking very good English.This is a bonus as outside English is not widely spoken which adds to the flavour of any holiday, bring a good phrase book. The Bar does close a little early at 11.00pm but with so many bars in Valencia this really should not be an issue. All in all a good value 3 star hotel in a very nice city. << Click here to read less
