Venice Santa Lucia Railroad Station
The Venice Santa Lucia Railroad Station is one of the 2 major train stations in Venice, the other being Mestre station on the mainland. Santa Lucia is located in the city itself and with its modern buildings stands out in the historic city. The trains come to a dead halt at this station and to reach their destination within the city travelers can catch a water taxi or vaporetto (water bus) from the landing by the station. The station itself has a bank and an automated teller machine where travelers can get their currency exchanged, while hotel reservations can be made at the station’s reservation counter. In addition those travelers with a large mount of baggage can hire porters from the vaporetto landing, to transport it from the station to the hotel

Mestre Railroad Station
The Mestre Railroad Station is one of the 2 major stations under the municipality of Venice and is located on the mainland in Piazzale Favretti, while the other - Santa Lucia Railroad Station, is located within the city itself. Mestre is generally a station where trains stop briefly on their way from Austria and Slovenia to Bologna and Florence. Though some trains cross the causeway into Venice, others require passengers to disembark and catch a local train across. In addition guests can also catch a taxi or a bus to cross into Venice, while the ATVO Flybus shuttle links Venice’s Marco Polo Airport to Mestre station in about 20 minutes.
