Parque de Cabecera The Parque de Cabecera is also located in the dried out river of Turia.It combines the natural branch of the river with the more modern and artificial one. This park contributes to form the great green belt of the city. Water is the central theme of the garden.An open air auditorium, a lake that is ideal for boat rides, bars, childrens play area and the Moli del Sol which will be declared as the Turia museum are located within these premises.The Parque de Cabecera has 4 sections which are the mountain view area, the forest and Mediterranean river bank area, the Bio park and amusement park area and the last two areas are still under construction and entrance fees will be charged for them.
Parque de Marchalenes It is located in the neighbourhoud bearing the same name, the Parque de Marxalenes is spread over a total area of 50,000 square metres.It is situated between the streets of San Pancracio, Luis Crumiere, Reus-Ruaya and the Star. A part of the park is dedicated to an environmental school. The gardens are laid out in organized pathways with each one being dedicated to a particular kind of tree such as palm, carob, olive, almer, rivet, ash, elm, holm and so on.The water acts as a reflects the surrounding landscape resembling a mirror.Other characteristics of an urban park are also integrated here offering facilities such as a sports area and childrens play area.Entrance is free of charge. Open everyday from 9.00 a.m. to sunset.
Parque de Orriols The new garden is spread over 32,000 square metres and was inaugurated in September 2000. The Parque de Orriols is located in the district that bears the same name and is next to the famous Football ground of Levante. It has brought a new lease of life to this area offering recreation and relaxation in pleasant surroundings.The park caters to all ages and offers sports facilities with swimming, soccer, basketball, tennis and many other activities. It also has a children’s park that keeps the young ones enthralled. The vegetation includes banana trees, Japanese cherry trees, Cypress, white moreras, acacias and many others from foreign countries. Entrance is free of charge and the park is open on all days from 9.00 a.m. till sunset.
Parque del Oeste It is situated next to the Avda del Cid and is basically a city garden of 39,215 square metres.The Parque del Oeste is a favourite haunt of the local people as it has excellent facilities for both the young and the old. The carefully tended garden consists of a variety of plants together with sculptures. The most outstanding feature is its rose garden which is also the venue for an international competition annually.The childrens play area has an amoeba which offers various games, skating, skateboarding, mini golf, Spanish bowling and much more.The Parque del Oeste also has rest areas and two kiosks with toilet facilities which are available within the premises. The park is popular due to its central location close to several historic sights.Entrance is free of charge.The park is open from 9.00 a.m. to sunset every day.
Paseo Maritimo Y Paseo Neptuno These gardens include the maritime promenade of Valencia, which stretch along the beaches of Las Arenas and La Malvarrosa/ It has an area of over 49000 square metres of a beautifully landscaped garden area. The rows of palm trees and trimmed hedges add to the beauty and blends so well with the surrounding area.Paseo Maritimo Y Paseo Neptuno are lined with a range of colourful flowering plants such as geraniums, lavender, gazenias, asteriscus maritimum and a whole heap of others which add to the picturesque quality of this city. The promenade also links the city and the sea and is most of the time crowded especially during the summer.A cycle lane also runs along the promenade which is lined with several restaurants and houses. |
