Don’t miss out on this cultural treat! Orlando is not just about the theme parks, the city boasts a rich history of arts and culture, which have been carefully harvested and presented for your enjoyment at the Orlando Museum of Arts Exhibition.
The American Art Collection : includes a breathtaking collection of paintings, drawings, sculptures and photographs dating back to the 18th century. Included are the works of John Singer Sargent, Thomas Moran, George Inness, Georgia O`Keeffe, Ansel Adams, Suzanne McClelland, Robert Rauschenberg, Pat Steir, Morris Louis, John Chamberlain and Dennis Oppenheim.
Art of Ancient Americans Collections contains artefacts from as far back as 2000BC. Check out the intricate objects modelled from stone, jade, cloth, silver, gold and ceramic. Marvel at the work of the ancient Aztecs, North Americans, Mexicans and tribes of Mogollon amongst many others.
The African Art Collection is as beautiful as the city of Orlando. A rich collection of the community culture and arts on exhibit are wooden figures, masks, bead work and ivory carvings.
French and American Landscape Paintings from the Worcester Art Museum are on display from September to December while Divine Revolution: The Art of Edouard Duval Carrie on display from August to October creatively highlights the oppression and displacement faced in Haiti.
The Orlando Museum of Arts Exhibition began as a band of young artists striving to meet and display their work in the 1920s which proved to be a success amongst the local community. Accredited in 1971 to the American Association of Museums the OMS (as its popularly known) was dubbed a treasured cultural institute by the State of Florida in 1985 due to its vast collection of historical treasures.
