NBA’s Orlando Magic is sitting pretty with a season score record of 16-6 in the last 22 games of the season, almost making it to the coveted number eight seed at the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Now, a vital asset to the city of Orlando this dynamic basketball team, the Magic are gearing up for a fresh round of games for the coming season, Brian Hill renowned for his winning streak has been reappointed as coach. Basketball fans expect some Magic action this October when home game play offs commence in October.
The idea of a pro-basketball team for Orlando was brought up by local banker Kim Hewitt who was persuasive enough to encourage a substantial amount of donations for the registration of the team. His dream came true when with a joining fee of US$ 32.5 million the Orlando Magic joined the NBA in the 1989-90 season, and was soon a worthy contender with the well planned acquiring of Shaquille O’Neal as centre. The last season saw some impressive wins for the team with Dwight Howard earning the record of being the youngest player in NBA history to score a 20-20 game against the Bobcats. Much of the team’s recent success in the last season is owned to the opening line-up consisting of Dwight Howard, Hedo Turkoglu, Tony Battie, DeShawn Stevenson and Steve Francis.
