About Aldwych Theatre London Designed by architect W G R Sprague the Aldwych was built as a pair with the Strand Theatres and stands next to the plush Waldorf Hotel. Sporting a seating capacity of 1129 on 3 levels the Aldwych theatre was opened in December 1905. The Royal Shakespeare Company used the Aldwych from 1960 to 1982, after which an impressive array of performances like Noel Cowards: ‘Private Lives’
starring Joan Collins, ‘An Inspector Calls’ and the acclaimed revival of Edward Albees’s ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf’ were staged at this prestigious venue.
Location… One of London’s most popular tourist destinations Covent Gardens is ideal for shopping, entertainment and dining.
