Aldwych Theatre London

About Aldwych Theatre London
Designed by architect W G R Sprague the Aldwych was built as a pair with the Strand Theatres and stands next to the plush Waldorf Hotel. Sporting a seating capacity of 1129 on 3 levels the Aldwych theatre was opened in December 1905. The Royal Shakespeare Company used the Aldwych from 1960 to 1982, after which an impressive array of performances like Noel Cowards: ‘Private Lives’

starring Joan Collins, ‘An Inspector Calls’ and the acclaimed revival of Edward Albees’s ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf’ were staged at this prestigious venue.

Location…
One of London’s most popular tourist destinations Covent Gardens is ideal for shopping, entertainment and dining. The area sports a number of fabulous stores, museums and theatres including the Aldwych and is renowned for its sunny cafes, delicious local dishes and friendly locals. The Covent Garden Tube close to the Aldwych theatre provides convenient transport options to any part of the city while taxis and bright red buses are found a plenty around the vicinity of this theatre.
