Featured in the Disney classic “Bedknobs and Broomsticks”, Notting Hill’s Portobello Road is best known for its antique and second hand goods markets which have made it one of the most visited attractions in London. Set amidst a laidback and somewhat bohemian atmosphere, Portobello Road’s main antique and flea market takes place on Saturday and is home to over 2,000 stalls selling everything from antique furniture to jewellery, clothing, paintings, household items, CD / DVD sets, videos and fashion accessories. The much loved antique market is located on the south side of London’s lively Portobello Road and amidst the hustle and bustle of shoppers and shop vendors one will find a wide range of furniture, collectibles, classic books and various curiosities to keep you occupied for hours on end. Those venturing to the north end of Portobello Road will be greeted with a vibrant bric-a-brac market setting where one can bargain away on items such as second hand clothing, fashion accessories, music CDs, jewellery and just about anything you put your mind to finding. Portobello Road is also home to various food markets where one can purchase a wide assortment of fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices.
The main antique market takes place on Saturday, while the main bric-a-brac market is open on both Fridays and Saturdays. Several stalls and shops are open during weekdays as well on Portobello Road.
