Palazza Vecchio (English translation: The old palace) has been a prominent building in Florence Italy since the 16th century. Plazzo Vecchio was also known as Palazzo Della Signoria, Palazzo Del Populo, Palazzo Dei Priori and Palazzo Ducale throughout history according to the carrying use of the palace. Currently Palazzo Vecchio houses the offices of the city council.Some sections of the palace such as the Hall of the Two Hundred is used by the city council and is therefore not always open to the public. However most of the palace is open to visitors.
The entrance of Palazzo Vecchio is decorated with white and gold stuccoes and sixteenth century frescoes. This mammoth Museum has panelled ceiling and walls that are wallpapered with frescoes and sculptures of De’Rossi showing the Deeds of Hercules. The walls of some of the rooms such as the Salone Dei Cinquecento exhibit the glamorous artwork of Michelangelo and Leonardo. Major attractions within Palazza Vecchio include Room of the Lilies, Elenora di Toledo`s Rooms, the inner courtyard with the Putto Fountain and Michelangelo`s statue ‘the Victory’.

Opening Hours The museum has immense historical and artistic significance and qualifies as a not to be missed museum in Florence. Palazzo Vecchio is open from Monday to Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location Palazzo Vecchio located at a convenient location on Piazza della Signoria and can be easily accessed by bus. Some other attractions close to Palazzo vecchio include the Uffizi museum and Piazza del Signoria an great place to relax and have to coffee right in front of the palace.
