Alhaurin Golf - Costa del Sol |
 |
Known as the `Costa del Golf`, Costa del Sol is progressively becoming one of Europe`s foremost golfing destinations with its ideal year round weather conditions. With over 30 courses to choose from, golfers are spoiled for choice with each offering its own levels of difficulty and challenges. One of the best golf courses in the Costa del Sol is the Valderrama in Sotogrande which coincidentally was host to the 1997 Ryder Cup Championship and inevitably launched Costa del Sol`s reputation as the best winter golfing location in Europe. Serious golfers will find some world class courses in the `Golf Valley` a little inland from Puerto Banus and Neuva Andalucia. Many golf academies with qualified instructors can be found, and anyone from first-time golfers to those who want to improve their stroke will find them useful.
Alhaurin Golf
The Alhaurin Golf Course is located against the picturesque setting of the Mijas mountain range in Alhaurin El Grande. The course was opened in 1993 and designed by Severiano Ballesteros and one of its most striking features is its hilly design that incorporates the natural layout of the landscape. The Alhaurin Golf Course is open to all levels of golfers and has a number of different courses including an 18-hole course, a 9-hole short course and for the kids, a par 3 course next to the new clubhouse. The golf course is well equipped and there is even an onsite hotel for those really serious golfers.
