The best way to get to Zermatt is by train as private cars are allowed only as far as Tasch. If arriving by car guests can take a train or taxi to Zermatt from Tasch which is only 5km away. Visitor arriving at major Swiss airports can fly Air Zermatt to get to the village. Travelling within Zermatt is only permitted for electric cars and buses, bicycles, horse drawn sleighs and carriages. Getting around Zermatt on foot is quite easy as the place is not very large geographically.
