The reception area of the hotel was good and all staff were excellent, friendly and efficient. However, our room was on the 4th floor and the only working lift went only to the 3rd floor. This meant carrying our cases up two flights of stairs to the 4th floor where our room turned out to be more like a cupboard. There was about 18 inches gap around the edges of the bed and the room must have measured no more that 7ft by 10ft with an alcove for a single wardrobe and minifridge and another leading to the entrance door and bathroom. This was a double room, not a single! Rome itself is superb and everything is easily accessible with lots of choices for transport. However, I found the Vatican tour overcrowded, overpriced and you were rushed through without being able to actually see very much. The guides at the Colloseum were brilliant - well worth the money. Favourite places were The Trevi fountain (five minutes walk away - bottom of the street, cross the road and follow the street down for a few minutes) the Colloseum and the Spanish Steps. Huge choice of restaurants and street cafes, all nice but the Hard Rock Cafe up from Barbarini Metro Station is a fun night with great food. Staff are brilliant! Breakfast at the hotel was basic and most mornings there were no eggs left, or glasses for juice - obviously not enough staff to keep provisions stocked up. I will be visiting Rome again but not sure I will use the same hotel. << Click here to read less
