We were very unhappy about our choice of hotel. The advertisement said that it was 5 km from the centre and had easy access to the main attractions. However, we had to take a bus from outside the hotel - often waiting ten mins - and then get a metro, usually waiting ten minutes. Each journey took about ten minutes. Therefore it was about 40 minutes, on transport, from the centre - this is NOT easy access. At night, the metro was closed meaning that we had no choice but to get a taxi. We were ripped off a number of times by taxi drivers who claimed that they weren't sure where the hotel was - the taxi trip cost us varying amounts from €15 to €25 and was frustrating as we speak little italian. There were even taxi drivers who refused to take us to the hotel as it was 'too far' - this, as you can imagine, was very frustrating.
The advertisment said that there was a swimming pool at the hotel - there was, but it cost us €6 each to enter. After relaxing by the pool for less than ten minutes, music was put on by the staff that was ridiculously loud and inappropriate for that time of the day. We did not return to the pool after this one short visit.
The staff that cleaned the rooms were very loud in the morning - often banging the door with the hoover and talking at the top of their voices. On one occasion, staff entered the room three times in less than an hour.
This hotel ruined our time in Rome. More >> |
