This hotel is very well located. The room and the bathroom were clean. A little bit noisy because it was on the street side. The breakfast was without pretention but just enough to start the day : bagels, donuts, coffee, tea, orange juice, lemonade, cream cheese, jam. The staff was very helpful. Internet access and public phone in the hall, it was very convenient. I would stay there again. Read Less

I think that you should be more accurate about the price that you are charging for a reservation. I was under the impression that I was to pay a certain price, and little did I know I had to convert U.S. dollars to U.K dollars. Needless to say it has been a major inconvienance doing business with your company, and in the future I will not use your website, nor would I recomend anyone to book with you. Read Less

If we hadn't prepaid for our stay we wouldn't have spent one night here. This hotel is one of the worse I have ever stayed in, its old, drab and horrible. The showers dont work proberly its either freezing or too hot or in our case the shower wouldn't turn off which meant we got moved to another unpleasent room, the location of the hotel is great but I would not advise anyone to book it regardless of the price. Regency Inn and Suite, West 34th St, Manhattan.
My room had no heating. The window in the bathroom was broken. My room was the only one that used a key instead of a swipe card. It was clearly not a room normally used by guests. The door did not lock. One evening I returned to find a couple having sex in my room. It was very unsettling and disturbing. How did they know that my room on the 7th floor could be opened without a key? This room, no 720, should not be used for guests until it is made secure, the broken window fixed and the heating turned on. I was given another room but no apology, no comment at all from the hotel management.
All very sad,

While the location of the hotel was very good the hotel itself was in very poor condition. It definitely needs to be re-decorated and cleaned up. The bed linen and towels were very clean but just the general condition of the rooms was poor. Dirty carpets, wallpaper hanging from walls and hallways in the same condition.
If the hotel improved its decor this definitely would be a fantastic spot to visit.
Do not think I would book it again because of this, even for the location. Read Less

For the price, the Regency is OK. The location is fantastic. Two blocks from Empire state, and about 10 blocks from Times Square. The rooms are clean. The breakfast could have been better, a bread roll and a doughnut is not what i expected from a New York hotel. But just for a place to sleep, it is ideal, because of the location. I would give it 3/5 on location only!! Read Less

Continental breakfast isn't quite what you'd think - you get bagels and pastries and coffee/tea from a vending machine. There is not much else. Get to the dining room before 9am else you won't get much.
The location is fantastic - <10 mins to walk to Macys, Time Square, Empire State, Maddison Square Gardens. 20 mins walk to Chrysler, New York Public Library. There is a subway very close which is ideal to get around the city.
The rooms are OK, try to get the rooms on the higher floors else your view will be of garbage if you are at the rear of the building.
On the whole for those on a budget who want to be near the main attaractions but only want a hotel to sleep in this is ideal. For those with families or who want to relax at the hotel find somewhere else. Read Less

Having stayed in New York before we were disappointed with the standard of hotel compared with previous hotels. Electricity power failure one morning, no hot water another morning, due to boiler "breaking down" no butterand milk in "dining room" one morning, dirty tables not cleared away electric sockets unusable i.e. could not recharge mobile phone - adaptors would not stay in sockets. Were told to use only one socket in room which used to serve the air conditioning unit. Although complaints made to reception nobody seemed able to "follow through " with putting things right fairly quickly. Read Less

The hotel is ridden with mice both in rooms and corridors. Many of the chest of drawers have been gnawed by the mice at the back, as the mice try to get into packages in the drawers. The mounds of dust behind the chests show that the cleaning hasn't been done for weeks. Often the bathrooms haven't been finished off properly giving a 'tatty' appearance. However, the bed linen is always clean plus clean towels daily etc...The hotel is in a great place - opposite Penn station, near Madison gardens, Macey's departmental store,Empire State Building and a few minutes from Times Square - and a short walk from the Javits Convention Centre - the purpose of my visit. I have used the hotel for 7 years because of the superb location and the fact that i only need a place to rest my head! I couldn't invite friends in!! Besides the problem of the mice ther's only a very small foyer and no lounge to sit around with people. If it got rid of the mouse problem and 'finished off' the rooms it would be a big improvement. After all, if we wanted the Ritz we would need to be prepared to pay!!! This hotel could be okay with a major overall, and, as it's usually booked up, it shows that people are willing to put up with a poor standard for a great location.
I hope this is helpful and please do not quote my name as I need to return!!!! This year my party stayed for 8 nights, as usual, and both of the other two rooms, booked individually through another service were at a cheaper price than you gave me.
Best regards, Beryl Peters. Read Less

The hotel was inexpensive, so therefore can't really expect much. However the room was advertised as sleeping six comfortably, the reality was five at a tight squeeze! The bathroom was the smallest I've ever seen, the toilet would not flush and it was totally impossible to maintain a constant temperature in the shower.... But NYC being what it is, as little time is spent in the room as possible, and the location, directly opposite PENN station was fantastic. Read Less
