The hotel is situated in the perfect position for the theatre district etc. easy accessability to the shopping blocks and the subway (tube for us english).
The room is adequate if you anly want somewhere to sleep although should you wish to spend time in your room it is comfortable and very clean. The overall decor is shabby with peeling wallpaper etc. I laughed when I read in the lift that we are to modernise our hotel and we thought not before time.. They then quote its the hotel lifts and not anywhere else!! Overall a worthwhile stay. Security is excellent too....... Kim & Alex Read Less

On our second visit on the night of 3rd June, we were put in Room 652. This room was appalling - the air conditiioning unit did not work, the shower could not be regulated, two electrical sockets were hanging from the wall in a dangerous condition and the room was in a poor state of decor.
We complained to the manager when we left the following morning who took down details and told us to inform you of the problem so that you can arrange compensation through their accounting system.

after three rooms and beig very tired we were over all discusted, the first room had been prised open several times before (gouges in woodwork) keys didnt work, shower didnt work, the 2nd room no hot water, the third room the facilities worked we were told we were upgraded its equivalent to b and b in uk except the b 8 b in uk would probably be more modern. the first impression was superb and thats as far as the superb went. the toilet bowls in all three rooms had been scratched so badly they were black at the bottom the tile grouting was mouldy in all three bathrooms. the dust behind the beds hadnt been touched for months, electric cables to lights were in a tangled heap, health and safety here would have a ball, curtains did not shut and were for decor only the blind was not sufficient for privacy or noise levels. I t is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in my life that is to include bed and breakfasts stop overs in uk. the sheets were cleaned daily because we tipped daily! we had been upgraded to receive breakfast which after one visit was enough! very old fashioned and in desperate need of upgrading, The first nigh the wife cried her eyes out with disgust. This hotel offered very distinct advantages and disadvantages.
WE BELIEVED THE ADVANTAGES OUTWIEGHED THE DISADVANTAGES.
The main problem was noise - there were approximately 40 floors and we were situated on 4th and there seemed to be sort of 'water hammer' or air lock in the bathroom pipes that was activated whenever anyone above us turned the water on - the noise level fluctuated but it was definitely loud enough to rouse you from a very deep sleep - this coupled with the single glazed window which admitted street noise from the city that never sleeps caused much sleep disturbance - however - New York keeps you very busy by day and we found that we were tired enough to go back off to sleep very easily and I am not a good sleeper at the best of times. Also the room was the smallest I've ever stayed in but it was well equipped with iron and ironing board, telly, big illuminated clock for night-time, safe and hairdrier.
I have to say that the room and bathroom were SPOTLESS almost immaculate when taking into account the overall age of the accomoodation. We read all the reviews before booking and were not put off by lack of food and beverage facilities as anything and everything - all the variety in the world - is available just a few steps outside. The distinct advantage is the location of this hotel as you can do whatever you like then just trot home - no need for transport unless of course you are going any distance.
We will definitely go back - ENJOY Read Less

Dear All,
I would just like to say what a wonderful holiday and hotel location. Prior to arriving, I contacted the Milford a couple of times for some information and made friends with Carl and Natlie. I also brought a souvineer for Carl.
New York was everything I imagined and more. I have been to the US many times and this is my second trip this year, as I visited New Orleans in March.
I will most definately be staying at the Milford Plaza next year with family and have recommended it to all my colleagues at work.
If there is anyway you can pass on my comments to the Manager at the Milford, I would be most grateful.
Many thanks for your efficient and friendly service.
Best regards

What makes the Milford Plaza great is its location - right on broadway a corner away from 3 top shows and 2 blocks from Times Square. It is a typical old style 3 star hotel with basic services no room service or even a restuarant- but the staff are great, very polite and helpful. If you are looking for a base close to the action near all the big shows that doesnt blow your budget right out the water then this is the place. The location is absolutely fantastic. The best possible for Broadway and very central and convenient for everything else too. Literally next door to Bway theatres & 1 min walk from Times Square. Also near subway, and has a porter who will call taxis.
The "Celebrity Deli" restaurant downstairs does great food at all hours, and are very friendly and accomodating.
The staff were very helpful and nice, and we were helped and treated extremely well during our troubles due to the recent Blizzard.
Cable TV, comfy beds, air con.
Also excellent value for money.
Unfortunately (this is our 2nd stay, and we have friends who stayed there too), there will inevitably be at least one thing wrong with your room. This time it was (an EXTREMELY annoying) drone that stopped and started throughout the first night and day (but then disappeared) and a window that didn't shut properly.Last time it was tap that wouldn't turn off.If you can look past these things though, there is no better place to stay! A lot of reviews I read were very negative about this hotel. I agree with those who have said that if you want to spend all day in a hotel room then book elsewhere and pay a lot more. Yes, the decor is a little tired, but I've stayed in a lot worse for a similar price. The location however is the best for getting anywhere in and around Manhattan. The service level is high. I arrived there at 11.30am and they found me a room and let me check-in without a problem, plus they let me extend my check-out until 1.00pm. Read Less
