Very nice surroundings near Central Park. The rooms (4 beds) without furniture except bunk beds with very hard matresses. Bathroom poor without mirror and towel rails, a long waiting line and old bathtube/shower- but it was cleaned up every day by the staff. I was maybe their oldest guest. This is really a youth hostel - so my two daughters ,who travelled together with me, found it OK! Regards Annica from Sweden Read Less

Do not be fooled this is very basic accommodation but the staff are very friendly and helpful and so are the local residents. The facilities were always clean including the bathrooms and water was always hot! Its very near central park but you will need to take the subway or get a taxi to most of new yorks attractions. We used the subway alot and found it was good value for money and was very regular and got you to the centre of things within seconds. The local subway station is a 5 minute walk from the hostel. The hostel is basically 'what u pay for', but if you like to be out of the madness of midtown manhattan but want to be within reach of the attractions then this place is ideal. If your on a budget too this is the place for you!! Read Less

The hotel was run down and in need of a decoration, the bathrooms were clean but very old and a bit rusty, but bins were always empties etc, the price was really good and the location was really good, I would stay again, I went over to shop and sightsee so we only stayed in the room at bedtime, so if that is what you are after it was fine, the hotel was very warm also, the heating was alway on, so it was basic but done the job Read Less

This accomodation is BASIC, fortunately my sons & I were able to treat it like camping, but had my wife been with us, we would have been looking to move. The bunk beds were reasonably new, the matresses & sheets were clean, the door frame & windows were secure, the neighbourhood was safe/clean/accessible. The bathroom was borderline acceptible.
The bottom line on this was that it was cheap & enabled me to spend our hard earned dollars on helicopter rides & stuff we otherwise wouldn't have. It also meant that we left early in the mornings & returned late at night, using the room purely for sleeping. Read Less
