The price of $ 391.00 for three nights is a gift. The room is old but clean and comfortable. This hotel is very well located, have the opposite corner Penn Station and Times Square 5 minutes walk. To sleep in a hotel in New York is excellent. Thank you very much for the price.

The location of this hotel is excellent it is right opposite Madison Square Gardens and a stroll from Macy's. The hotel is quite big in fact I think it has the most rooms in NYC. There were four of us and we were upgraded to a large room with three double beds. The decor of the hotel corridors look like something you would see in a horror film quite dark and gloomy, to be honest the last thing you do in New York is stay in your room! Check In was efficient and pleasant considering it was Christmas therefore a very busy time for the hotel. On the ground floor is a 24 hour coffee shop great for when you come in from the cold! Macdonalds is a couple of doors down so it is very handy for breakfast, as are the deli's close by. All in all we had a great stay at The Pennsylvania, please don't go here if you are expecting 5* hotel. It has charm,is great value for money and fantastic location all in all a fab Christmas shopping break! << click here to read less |

The Hotel Pennsylvania was excellent value, right in the heart of Manhattan. Ideally located for the tourist; easy and quick check-in and out; reasonable room with an old-fashioned,but good bathroom and the biggest bed I've ever seen. The TV was large screen; and other failties were fine (iron, hairdryer etc.,)
Breakfast was small (orange juice, a coffee and a pastry) but very good quality. Staff were polite and helpful at all times.

This is the 6th stay at the Hotel Penn and as usual the service on arrival was good. The rooms are basic but clean but when in New York little time is spent in the room, as long as the bed is clean ; comfy, what more could you want. For the price paid I don't believe you would get any better. The location is the hotel's best asset. It is right in the centre of Manhatton with easy access either by foot or by subway to all the attractions. We would always try to stay here as a first option (unless we won the lottery ; could afford a top class hotel) << click here to read less |

This was my fourth time staying at the Pennsylvania Hotel NY, each time through roomsnet. I have read many bad reviews about this place on trip advisor but i can honestly say we have never had any problems when staying here and i would recommend this hotel to anyone who is just looking for a clean hotel room to rest their head after a long day of sightseeing and shopping. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in manhattan, the location is just fantastic, you have Madison Square Garden directly accross the road, Macys just one street to your right and down the side of the building the Manhattan Mall, Empire State Building is only two streets behind you also. Times square is only a 5min walk. There is also a great Irish pub The Blarney Rock accross from the side entrace, great place for breakfast in the morning. I really think this hotel is great value for money and if your not happy with your room just ask to be changed and i'm sure they would be more than accomodating. I have always asked for a renovated room on arrival and the room i have always gotten has been perfect. The rooms are small but what do you want, once you have a bed to sleep in, a tv to watch while unwinding at night and a lovely power shower to wake you up in the mornings i'm not sure what more you can ask for. << click here to read less |

The location of the Pennsylvania was ideal. The facilities offered were fine and the rooms although basic were clean and adequate. The price was very competitive and I suppose it depends what you are looking for and what your budget is. There were 4 of us and we were in New York to see New York, not the inside of a hotel room, however we wanted a clean room with plenty of towels, hot water and comfy beds on our return. If you want luxury and plan to stay in the room more, then go somewhere else. This is my second time staying there and I would do so again. << click here to read less |

We have stayed in hotels all over the world, and I can honestly say that this is by far the worst hotel we have ever experienced. The staff were very un helpful, in fact they were almost rude. There were not enough staff on duty and we had to wait ages to get checked in and to get access to our saftey deposit boxes, one night I had to go out without my jewellery as I couldn't wait any longer. The rooms were in need of repair, the sink and the bath were full of cracks and the shower was all rusty. The paint was peeling of the walls and the lighting was so poor in the bedroom that we had to leave the toilet light on just to see what we were doing. When we came back one night there was dirty bed linen lying on top of our bed and the heating had been fully turned up. When we came back to pick up our luggage the day we were leaving, we asked where the toilets were in the hotel only to be told that the only toilets for the guest were in the rooms and as we had already checked out there was no where for us to go. I would never go back to this hotel and would never ever recommend it to anyone, in fact I would tell them to avoid it at all costs. << click here to read less |

The hotel is perfectly situated for everything. We weren't very impressed with the first room they allocated us but it was no problem for them to change us to another room which was fantastic with a great view down 33rd to the Hudson river. We had fresh bed linen every day, with fresh towels everyday and even the heating switched on for us at 5.00 pm before we came in from a hectic days sight seeing - very impressed by this. The staff were all courtious throughout. Would definitely recommend it to others but beware of having a room on the front, which ours was, it can be noisy but then the whole of New York is. A very enjoyable holiday with no problems, many thanks to RoomsNet. << click here to read less |

I stayed in this hotel a few days ago ; I have to say I was completely ; utterly disappointed with my room. I stayed with a group who had booked the Penn 500 option which included breakfast. The only advantage to this seems to be a superior quality room, as none of my group would eat the breakfast of buns, apples and coffee. I had booked the room only option preferring to breakfast with the locals in nearby diners. At no point was I informed that the Penn 500 option entitled you to a superior room. My room was appalling ; one of my friends insisted on staying with me. I will say the bed linen ; towels were clean, as was the bathroom ; the shower was one of the most powerful I have used. However the room was so worn ; used looking ; the overall cleanliness of it left alot to be desired, the dust on the surfaces was a long time gathering ; the carpet had not been vacuumed properly in what looked like months. The fridge in the room was filthy. I had heard from friends that the hotel was basic ; not the best ; I was prepared for that as the location being just down the street from Macy's and Times Square could not be beaten. But having paid ?390 for 2 nights at a room only rate I was shocked. I am from Ireland ; used to paying above and beyond for basic services, but if anyone walked into a hotel room in Ireland that was the same poor standard as my room in the Pennsylvania it would not be tolerated. << click here to read less |

My husband and myself stayed at this hotel for two nights, to celebrate our 20th anniversary. The hotel reception was bright and spacious and the receptionist whilst unfriendly was efficient. On arrival at the room, No 1463 we were shocked and horrified. It was tiny! The bed barely big enough for two people. The paintwork was crumbling and ancient around the door frame (the door was new and had obviously been recently installed). The carpet was nylon cheap quality and ill fitting. The wall beside the bed had a multiple stain (possibly blood or some other disgusting stain). The radiator was like something from the last century and beside it there was a pile of dust and rubble from where some type of "work" had been carried out. We pulled back the covers to check on the bed linen and this indeed was spotless. We were horrified so I rang reception and explained how upset we were. At first I was told all the rooms in the hotel were of the same standard, decor and size and when I offered to pay for an upgrade I was told that we could indeed be upgraded to a modernised revamped room for one hundred dollars plus taxes per night, but the room would still be the same "shoe box" size. The loo was spotless but tiny. We declined to pay the upgrade to a room of equal size as it was space we wanted. We would not recommend this hotel for anything but location. << click here to read less |

First of all I was expecting the rooms to be bit more worthwild. The prices of the rooms are very expensive for a 2 star hotel. It is though very ideal location for tourists as Times Square and Empire State Building is a 5 minute walk away. Also, you have Madison Square Garden cross the road. It is best to book the hotel in your home country weeks in advanced and not book a room while your there. The Pennsylvania hotel was fantastic, it is in a great location, right opposite Madison Square garden, only 8 blocks down from Time Square. The hotel was very clean and tidy, the staff were very helpful, my daughter is in a wheelchair and they were very helpful, there is a ramp and disabled lift into the lobby which is very spacious and 10 evevators to all the floors so you don't have to wait long to get to your room. The room was very clean, fresh bedding and towels every day, and air con which in the summer is a life saver.
I will definatly go back to the Penn << click here to read less |

This was the 3rd time i have stayed in this hotel. The floor looked like it had dried paint on it, one of the lamps didn't work and the hot water was off. I did tell them at the desk and they fixed the lamp and the water was back on even though it was on and off. The location is perfect as you have a short walk to Chelsea and a bit further to Greenwich Village and the other way you have Time Square within a 3-5 minute walk. 5th Ave is a short walk too. I will come back to the hotel on my next visit down the the location. << click here to read less |

The best thing about the Pennsylvania Hotel is its location. It is right next to Macy's and only two blocks from the Empire State building. Penn Station is just across the road and this was really convenient this year, as we flew into Newark Airport and were able to get a train direct from the airport to Penn station, and just had to cross the road to get to our hotel. No taxi needed. On the other hand, when we did require to call a taxi (we were in new York for a wedding) there is a very helpful porter who hailed one for us using his very shrill whistle! The housekeeping service was excellent. Our room could have done with some minor refurbishmenta and the hotel has an air of faded glory, but it is reasonably priced, so I'm not complaining about that. We stayed there last summer and we recommended it to a group of our friends who went to NY for a shopping trip just before Christmas and they were quite satisfied with it too. this is the third time i have stayed at this hotel.simply because of the location. Its so central and very good concerts are held in Madison square gardens which is right across the road. You can also get a great Irish breakfast in an Irish bar with a decent cup of tea also on the door step. Some of the rooms are shabby.but I always ask for a bigger airy room and have never been refused. The maid service is good and our bed sheets were cahnged daily also. Great price again because of the location.Would stay ther again. << click here to read less |

The one double room I stayed in was very small but it wasnt an issue as I was out most of the time. The room had a large TV which featured all the major news channels and tourist information channels. The hotel had WiFi (not free), although it was only available in the lobby. There was a small computer room which was great because on the last day I checked in to British Airways and printed off my boarding pass.
The best part about staying at Hotel Pennsylvania is the location! Times Square is a 5 minute walk and so is Macys and the Empire State building.
In all the hotel deserves a high 4 out of 5 stars!

JUST BACK FROM NEW YORK. THERE WAS 8 IN OUR PARTY WE HAD 4 ROOMS IN THE PENNSYLVANIA. WE WERE ALLOCATED THE 3RD FLOOR. IT WAS LIKE GOING BACK IN TIME. THE ROOMS WERE DAMP AND THE PLASTER FALLING OF THE WALLS. WE ASKED TO BE MOVED AND WE WERE ALLOCATED THE 5TH FLOOR. WE HAD TO PAY EXTRA TO BE UPGRADED.THE ROOMS WERE SMALLER BUT NOT AS DAMP. WE LATER FOUND OUT THAT THE 3RD FLOOR IS WHERE THEY PUT THE DOWN AND OUTS OF NYC. WOULD NOT USE roomsnet.com AGAIN AS I FEEL WE WERE MISS LEAD WITH THE ACCOMODATION. THE RECEPTIONIST TOLD US THAT THEY BOOK THE VERY BASIC ROOMS IN THE HOTEL.AT LEAST IF WE HAD A CHOICE OF PRICES WHILE BOOKING WE COULD CHOOSE FOR OURSELVES. << click here to read less |

Stayed here for the second time (Sept 2007), previous visit Oct 2006. Had a massive room this time on the 2nd floor, very clean and very central for seeing the sights. Check in time was protracted because of the number of people, they were evidently booking in 600 people that day with only about five staff! This is an ideal venue if you want a bed and a bathroom for the night. Macy's store is just around the corner, you are opposite Maddison Square Gardens and a ten minute walk from the Empire State Building. Take an open top bus ride to see the sights, we had excellent guides real New Yorkers. Pre book tickets for the Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island. ENJOY! Shortage of reception staff meant long delays at the reception desk and also when using the safe deposit box system. However the hotel is ideally placed a very short walking distance to Times Square etc. We walked everywhere even to Central Park. I stay at this hotel 3 times a year and have come to know the place very well. Don't get me wrong if what you are after is luxury then there are alternative options. However, the location is greater than any other hotel in Manhattan. You are seconds away from the 1,2 and 3 trains, Penn Station, B,F,D,V,N,R,Q and W Trains are a block away at Herald Square {Macy's too} and the A,C and E trains are a block away on 8th Avenue. The whole of New York is effectively at your doorstep. May I add that the added convenience of having the greatest Deadly Buffalo Wings on the planet just seconds away at Gyro/Spinellis Pizza on 7th is the icing on the cake.
The staff is friendly in particular the duo of Yen and Shahid are value for money on there day. << click here to read less |
