After looking for an adequate hotel in Manhattan. I found the Apsen Hotel to be very good value for money. Unfortunately the room was very small but good enough to get a good nights rest. i would recommend it, purely on the basis that this is probably the only hotel at this rate with its own bathroom.

We arrived at the Aspen hotel only to find that it had changed its name to the Malibu Hotel, without being notified from our Tops. so you can imagine the stress trying to find a hotel that doesnt exist. the hotel lobby was nice and clean, friendly staff were there to greet us on arrival, however when leaving the lobby you are directed to your room where you have to walk passed damp and rotten walls to get there. it really is quite something no one should see. there are dustbins located on each floor whick is very unsightly and carpet stains all around the floor area. up on entering the rooms we found it very shabby, nothing exciting. only a double bed which was clean as was the room and shower facility adjacent to us. private shower in room and sink very clean. small tv with little or no reception, but it was hardly on. i recommend this if you are on a budget and not too fussed about spending time in hotels, but enjoying NYC instead.
