Great location, handy for Times Square. Very close to all Broadway theatres.
Several Metro stations within 5min walk (the easy way to get around the city!)
Room was small(ish) but we knew that before booking, so this was not a suproise/problem. Very helpful & courteous staff.
Would definately stay here again More >> |

Having read other reviews, I was getting a bit concerned about the hotel, but had nothing to worry about. The rooms did look a bit tired, but were a great size, and the location was spot on!! just round the corner from Times Square, and walkable to Central Park. Bearing in mind the price, I would definitely stay again. More >> |

Corciesge extremely unhelpful and unpleasant attitude.
Plus despite being informed the hotel turned away my suitcase which had been lost at airport which resulted in being without my suitcase for another half a day. A shame because the location was superb and hotel nicely styled. More >> |

Do not be put off by the appearance of Hotel Edison from the outside because as soon as you enter through the revolving door with period jazz music playing outside it, you enter into one of the most stunning hallways I have ever come accross! This hotel is fantastic!!
Due to being very busy when we arrived the check in was abrupt and to the point, however, on returning to to the reception area for information, the staff here were extremely helpful and very happy to help you.
The room we had on the sixth floor was large and very clean and cleaned to a high standard every day we were there. There wasn't a view from our windows but then with Times Square 20 steps to the right of the front door it didn't really bother us. The bathroom was clean, quite small but apart from having a shower (fantastic shower!), sitting on the toilet or drying yourself (which there was room to do this) what else do you need?!
The room was decorated to a 1930's style as is the whole hotel and it adds to the splendour of the hotel and is unique.
To end, I highly reccomend this hotel to anyone. The price you pay to stay here is out of this world in terms of where you are in New York, remember 20 steps to the right is Times Square, theatres accross the street and three main ones out the back door including Tarzan for all the families (as of november 2006). There is no where else in New York, I would stay when I return and believe me I will.

| A good find. I'd recommend the Edison to anyone wanting a decent hotel, well priced (well priced for New York!) that is slap bang in the midle of Manhattan. |

maybe our bad luck, but the staff on the morning we arrived were very uninviting and insisited on a small bit of paper to confirm our room payment, even though we booked the hotel during our travels and the document the internet gave us was the confirmation sheet and THE only one that was to be printed off and given to staff as proof of purchase, but would they accept it? not till i kicked up a fuss and told her to wind her neck in and be a bit more mature about the situation. if she wanted it in A5 rather than in A4 size i would have cut it in half for her lol!
They were more interested in taking tips off you rather than making you feel welcome, but the location was fantastic, and i would definately stay there again and ignore the impatient staff. at the end of the day...your in new york and shouldn't be in a hotel other than to sleep.
this place is a good deal for new york and is in Times Square . . . Can't get better than that! More >> |

cheap basic hotel with a very nicely decorated foyer and cafe, rooms are reasonable but bathroom facilties are a little outdated and the shower was well, just plain wierd. great location, right in times square close to all broadway theatres and pretty much everything else. Perfect place for a city break for a traveller on a budget who does need high luxury but just a decent place to rest their head More >> |
