Window to the room had no internal lock. But for someone who grew up in the Bronx this was not a easy way to be. We were fine on the 6th floor. But because the outside of the window was so dirty no one could see in to steal our stuff. Would I go back? The answer is not an immediate yes or an absolute no. For the price they could do a little better. The rooms were very clean and the location could not be better. There were four different subway lines 2 at each end of the block. The staff is good if a little run of their feet sometimes. There is so much to do and very close by.
The hotel does have charm and its worth giving it a go to see a different side of New York hotel styles and avoid the Big chain soul less rooms that are the same world wide.
