We booked The Albion as we were travelling from the UK to spend 4 nights in Miami and then go on a Bahamas cruise and thought the hotel looked to be in a good location. When we arrived we thought what have we come to! The road outside the hotel was closed. There were workmen in a cradle dangling on the side of the hotel. The entrance and lobby were blocked by lots of people and equipment. We were steered between the people into the lobby, led over cables, around cameras, through black sheeting and finally reaching the reception desk. It seemed like chaos! The very friendly reception staff then explained to us that they were sorry for the inconvenience but the ground floor was being used to film a TV show and everything would be back to normal in the morning. We went to our room which was very spacious, clean and with nice modern decoration. The bathroom was rather small but ok for 4 nights. The next morning it was as if no one had been there the day before. The entrance lobby was beautiful. Very spacious, modern, minimalist decor, very in keeping with the Art Deco building. The pool and pool area were very clean and spacious and it was nice to have thick cushions on the sun beds. The cafe on the pool deck was good, they gave free coffee until 10.30am each morning. The hotel was in a good location, directly on Lincoln Road for restaurants and shopping, 2 blocks from beach and easy walk to Ocean Drive. Would definitely stay there again. Great value for money.

Ratings based on price of room. Ocean Five is a nice little hotel with clean rooms. Location is very good for the beach (2 min. walk) or cruising South Beach at night. Continental breakfast that is free with the room is simple, but hot breakfast available against payment. The restaurant connected to the hotel is pricey, but offer good food.

Hotel was located a long way from South Beach, and there were very few shops/restaurants nearby. However, was located right on the beach, and the swimming pool was pretty good. Room was very large, although rather bland, but was adequate. Was most disappointed with service received in the hotel restaurant! Ordered simple burger & hot dog, only to wait 30 mins, received no cutlery, and when order did come, was clearly somebody elses left over chips, probably put there because we complained. Also, when questioning staff about "15% service charge", were basically given impression that "you have to pay this anyway, so why bother offering good service" Found most hotel staff either rude or unhelpful - woman on check in being exception - and would not recommend this hotel/would not stay again.

It is very difficult to make an objective assessment as we stayed for only one night. However it suited our needs and we had various places to eat within the airport terminal. They were flexible on checking out time which is important when you have children.
