We booked The Albion as we were travelling from the UK to spend 4 nights in Miami and then go on a Bahamas cruise and thought the hotel looked to be in a good location. When we arrived we thought what have we come to! The road outside the hotel was closed. There were workmen in a cradle dangling on the side of the hotel. The entrance and lobby were blocked by lots of people and equipment. We were steered between the people into the lobby, led over cables, around cameras, through black sheeting and finally reaching the reception desk. It seemed like chaos! The very friendly reception staff then explained to us that they were sorry for the inconvenience but the ground floor was being used to film a TV show and everything would be back to normal in the morning. We went to our room which was very spacious, clean and with nice modern decoration. The bathroom was rather small but ok for 4 nights. The next morning it was as if no one had been there the day before. The entrance lobby was beautiful. Very spacious, modern, minimalist decor, very in keeping with the Art Deco building. The pool and pool area were very clean and spacious and it was nice to have thick cushions on the sun beds. The cafe on the pool deck was good, they gave free coffee until 10.30am each morning. The hotel was in a good location, directly on Lincoln Road for restaurants and shopping, 2 blocks from beach and easy walk to Ocean Drive. Would definitely stay there again. Great value for money. I highlt recommend this hotel. It has a nice retro/trendy feel to it at a very good price. The romm was cleaned daily and represents excellent value for # in comparison to other hotels in the area. Its right next to all the nice hotel/bars on south beach. I would definately consider this hotel if I return in the future.
One thing I'd highly recommend is to AVOID the electrical stores adjacent to the hotel on lincoln road they build their business from ripping off tourists ,avoid at all costs no matter how tempting their prices may look!!! Tourists have no protection in the US from such ip off merchants. You will get a far better deal at a genuine retail outlet!!!!! Read Less

Overall the hotel was very good value for money. The location can not be beaten with superb beaches only two blocks away and Lincoln Road right next door offering a huge selection of bars, restaurants and shopping. The hotel pool area was simple but very nice and there is a small gym that offers the very basics in cardio equipment which is fine if you are looking for a quick workout. Overall, a good place to stay. Quick tip - you do not have to use the hotel valet parking as there is a parking lot right accross the road which will save you $5 a day and is much more convenient than having to wait for someone to bring you your car. Contrary to comments on review sites, all of which seem to have been written pre the November 2005 remodelling, I found the hotel to be perfectly adequate for a couple of nights. The size of the rooms we were allocated were ridiculously small, the only place for the suitcase stand was in front of the wardrobe door, which made unpacking a virtual impossibility. There is a supidly large cabinet with a TV on top that could have been reduced by having just a mini bar (only of any use if you are issued a key, which i was not) with a wall mounted TV. Then the desk could have been larger and able to support slightly more than a laptop! Perhaps they are catering to the holiday market, if so, the room is probably adequate for a long weekend on a budget. If they seek business travellers, which with complimentary wifi internet throughout, they must have that in mind, then they need rooms that are larger as 'business rooms'. I hate paying for breakfast. Where did they get 6' 2" long beds?? Read Less
