Archidona is a beautiful and historic town situated in the northern part of the Malaga province and borders with the province of Granada. It is just about 50 kilometers from the Granada town centre and 20 kilometers from Antequera. There is a good bus system linking all the towns in the area. The centre of Archidona has many religious buildings and monuments mostly from the 18th century.

Important churches in the area are the Church of the Nazarene and the Escuelas Pias which has a wonderful entrance and clock tower. The chime of the bells is very traditional and heard at various times of the day. The main plaza of the town is Plaza de la Victoria and in this place the Town Hall, the old granary with a stone Baroque entrance and the Iglesia de la Victoria can be found. At the end of May the town hosts the annual Dog Fair, the largest in the area and now declared of national importance.
