The hotel suited us as we have 2 children aged 4 and 5 and apartments are better suited to us. We neeed to be able to cook as kids eat all the time. Frankly this hotel would have been the stuff of nightmares when we were a couple but we were quite relaxed in the hotel as the other guests were elderly and like children! the indoor pool was very basic, not at all glamourous but warm and quite a good size and kept the kids entertained for hours. The apartment was a pleasant suprise in that the bathroom was new as was the kitchen with plenty of hot water and long showers. Basic pleasures. We bought a dvd player to attach to the tiny tv as you can only watch CNN and BBC news for so long. The beds not so great but ok for the price. Great location, near the shops, and promenade. We went at christmas so still cold but the kids played on the empty beaches and a few cafes did open. Palma was a 10 euro taxi ride away and everything was open there. Lovely to see the sun and be able to sit outside and have a coffee while the kids played on the beach. very relaxing and not too expensive. Read Less

The Helios Hotel in Can Pastilla Mallorca is situated just a 2 minute walk from a clean and beautiful beach. The apartments in which we stayed overlook the well kept gardens and swimming pool and can be accessed either from the street or through the hotel. The facilities also offer crazy golf, table tennis, boulles and a childrens pool. An attendant is always on duty whilst the pool is open. There is also plenty of umberella's to shade you whilst basking in the sun and a terraced area where you can sit to eat and drink. The hotel offers regular evening entertainment and the staff are friendly and helpful. As for the resort of Can Pastilla it has some excellent restaurants and friendly bars with no noisy discotheques, although these are available just a short distance away in Arenal. It is also very convenient for the airport (15 minutes) and a 25 minute bus journey to the capital of Palma for excellent shopping. I would recommend the hotel and resort to anyone who is seeking a laid back holiday with facilities just a stones throw away. Read Less

Service in hotel was efficient but not especially friendly. Nice pool area with a very attentive 'lifeguard' on duty. Most guests seemed to be German. It was fine for the 1 night that we stayed but I'm not sure that I would have wanted to stay much longer. Good value for money though. Read Less

THE MAJORITY WERE SPANISH, (WE FOUND THIS NO PROBLEM) BUT... PASTA AND CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST WAS A LET DOWN. DON'T THINK YOUR GOING TO GET, BACON, EGS, BEANS, CHIPS, YOU WILL GET SAUSAGES EVERY DAY! I THINK WE LOOKED LIKE SAUSAGES AT THE END OF THE WEEK! SAYING THIS AT LESS THAN ?8 A NIGHT WHAT DO YOU WANT! WE DIDN'T GO HUNGARY. YOU COULD NOT GET IN THE BAR AT NIGHT FOR SPANISH O.A.P. the hotel was the only one in the area that had people staying in it because i think it was just before their season had started. the hotel was full of german and spanish pensioners who were very friendly, especially to our daughter but this did mean there wasnt anyone of her age to play with and the entertainment was geared towards the older age range. ana on the desk was very helpful giving ideas where to go in the hire car. some people had been robbed in taxis from the airport even though it was only 5 minutes away so get a car or ask for a quote before you get in. the food was reasonable, although vegetarian choice was mainly fish every night that had not been boned. our room was for three people and was very big indeed but did look out towards the airport rather than the pool.the maid was excellent, not disturbing us once. there are a lot of aeroplanes taking off and landing but this did not bother us really. the pool had a heated indoor pool which was great for us as the outdoor pool had not been cleaned for the start of the season and i bet was a bit cold. bar prices were very reasonable with a bottle of lager just 1.60 euros and house table wine for meals about 3 euros a bottle! the main road behind the hotel is home to the local bus stop that goes to palma ( a must visit ) for 1.10 euros. the resort itself is very clean, the beach is nice and there are a range of shops and restaurants along the front which is great for an evening strole before the entertainment starts. there are things going on in the hotel during the day and is well led by estella but at our time of going none was child friendly. i presume this will change more in the summer. we went to soller which is nice, alcudia which is on the other side of the island and to marine land which is very pricey for what is there but the dolphin and sealion show is worth it. dont bother with the parrot show! in conclusion the hotel was clean, friendly and well maintained. the building work in its grounds for a patio area etc should be finished very soon. it is not the easiest place to get to first time though because of a one way street system around the streets in front of the hotel so look out for the signs on the strret corner before you go past the hotel. we had a lovely break, especially for the price we paid and would recommend the hotel to people who want a family holiday. it is not a young persons paradise for clubbing and pulling!
