The hotel is in a very good location on the main promenade, very close to beach, shops, restaurants, tram etc. The foyer, bar, pool area are very nicely decorated ,as is the restaurant. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice. However, our room was absolutely dreadful. When we entered the room we couldn't believe our eyes. The decor was terrible. The beds were uncomfortable with skimpy pillows. There was a locker missing and worst of all no balcony which we were led to believe came as standard. The room was of a 1 rather than 3 star standard. We requested a change of room(we were willing to pay for an upgrade) but the reception staff refused to accommodate us. It took 2 days and 3 requests for them to replace the missing locker. We then asked the reception staff on 3 occassions if we could have a late checkout on departure. Again they refused to accommodate us but did promise on each of the 3 occassions that they had a room where we could shower/change before leavng. When we asked for access to this room, the receptionist refused, stating that he was under no oblgation to do so. He was extremely rude to us. Finally he did give us a room to change. We have stayed in many hotels in many countries and have never encountered such unpleasant and discourteous reception staff. We will return to this beautiful Island, but will not be staying at the Hotel Eden. More >> |
