Carlton Hotel is fine. Everything was lovely. Breakfast was included. It was a buffet and absolutely beautiful. To get around Madrid you will need to use the Metro. The station is very close as are several of the attractions of the City. Staff in the Hotel were pleasant too. There was tea and coffee in the room. A few English speaking TV chanels wouldnt go amiss, but for a short stay BBC and CNN were ok. A note on MARDID--- IF YOU SMOKE all the Tobacco shops close on Saturday-----------how odd!!!! You will get smokes in Cortes des Ingles department stores on a Saturday ---- good selection of Cigars at their outlet at Nuevos Ministerios Metro station..........cheaper than Duty Free. The Carlton hotel is very central and the rooms were good apart from the extractor fan not working in the bathroom. Breakfast was excellent with hot and cold food.
However one of our party fell ill during the trip and the hotel staff were not very helpful in getting a doctor to see him which was disappointing. More >> |

| Extremely good breakfast.Location can be a bit noisey- solution is to use air con and close windows.Very handy location for railway/metro.Recommend Os Peregrinos restaurant just up the road for good value and really friendly service. |

This hotel provided a very good start to our holiday. Excellent location near to the main station and 2 metro lines within 500 meteres. Excellent local restaurants and bars just around the corner. The breakfasts were outstanding. Lots of choice including a whole cooked ham on the bone to slice at. The coffee, so often the weak point in hotels, was excellent from a bean to cup machine. The location is a good base for walking to the main museums/galleries but the Madrid metro is very good. I will return to Madrid and would be more than happy to stay at the Carlton. More >> |

| This hotel was a short taxi ride from the centre of Madrid. Very close to Atocha Metro. Breakfast was very good and the rooms were very good value for money. |

| Very good but, if it got hot as it did in march there was no air conditioning, management say that it only comes on in the summer, does not help on a hot night in march, otherwise good priced, good service, and great breakfast. |
