Room was excellent, bed was the best I have used in all the hotels I have been in and I have travelled a lot over the years. Room size and offerings were very good, concierge very helpful as were all the staff. There is a good place across the road to eat if you want something good to eat at not so high a price. They offer a car service within 3 miles of the hotel which is great when you want to go out. They are walking distance to the metro (civic centre) which will take you directly to Universal Studios on the red line. If you want to go to Disneyland then Starline tours are great to get you there for about the same price as the entry fee and pickup/drop off from the hotel). Hotel is walking distance to the 7th street jewelry district, Mexican area and Chinatown. It's not the most perfectly placed hotel but if you want something a little more quiet and a little more up market as far as hotels go then this is the one for you. I am definitely going back to LA and this is my hotel of choice. I read heaps of stuff about fear in the streets and homeless, I saw some of that in Little Tokyo but not so close to the hotel, we didn't verture to far from the hotel at night (few blocks to various restaurants we discovered) but they were nice, well lit nights like walking in the middle of Manhattan at night so not sure what all the fuss was about. (still it pays to be careful).. They also offer free Wifi to members (membership is free) and the mini bar was not too expensive.

The Omni is a beautiful hotel, it was more for business men, the location is great if you have a car, not many shops around, but enough to get through, , but these shops are closed weekends but allot of shops can be found across the road in downtown, however it is a run down area, safe during the day but not sure about walking East downtown at night. The rooms at the Omni are very clean and comfortable , very helpfull staff, the shower was not very powerfull but clean bathroom with lots of towels and toiletries. Parking was expensive at $28 per night, the car porters are a bit over the top with opening doors, carrying jackets or coats to the entrance. I would prefer to park my own car and get it when I went out, so it was a bit awkward as we went in and out 4 times one day, which gave the car porters a run around, however they are pleasant polite people. I would stay at the Omni again and again.
