The hotel was very clean and welcoming. The food was fantastic. The only negative comment i'd put is the lifts were very slow. We often had to walk down the stairs, as the lifts were always full. They could do with having more for the size of the hotel. We were wutie lucky in the respect we were only on floor 3 but fort hose that were much higher up in the building would've struggled with the lift situation. Read Less

The location is the only good thing about the St Giles. The bedroom was very small, didn't smell too fresh and the shower wasn't as clean as I would liked it to have been. Not somewhere I would stay again considering for only #8 more I have stayed in the luxurious Mandeville Hotel (booked through this site) and for #20 cheaper stayed in the Saint Gregory (also booked through this site) which was much superior to the St Giles. I have been in larger closets, but for a single it was OK. I am spoiled by US hotel rooms at a much lower price. Utility shut off water and when restored, john didn't flush. Breakfast was outstanding. Staff was professional, courteous and helpful. I guess the UK is still not into the 21st century in offering free broadband in rooms as they do in the US. A convenient short walk location between British Museum and West End theaters. Late night noise from casino next door interrupted sleep when window open. Read Less

Too much time spent waiting for lifts; only other choice is nasty emergency exit stairs. Dim lighting in bedroom (no overhead lights) and shower that defeats logic. Bar food available until 2am but in reality the chef goes (or at least went) home at 11pm. Staff on reception appear to know their job so well that they look perlexed when one asks a question, that to them, would be perfectly obvious! Great location though!!! Read Less

The hotel was in a great location, the staff at reception was fantastic in ensuring we had a room, considering a confirmation had not been sent through to the hotel by you and the hotel was fully booked, several other clients who were checking in at the same time as us were turned away as their room had already been given away due to the above mentioned non confirmation of bookings. The hotel again was great your booking service however did not meet standards. The only reason they found a room for us was because we had a grisly, tired 3 year old with us. Read Less

Having booked a single room I was pleasantly surprised when they offered me a twin on the top floor for the same price. It's worth pointing out that the top floor does not have lift access. The room itself was fairly clean but I was a little disappointed by the lack of toothpaste, the low flow shower and the distinctive urine stain on the duvet cover. The stain and the smell didn?t pose much of a problem as I had a spare bed to sleep in. Having said that though, the location was perfect and the hotel scores top marks in that category. Read Less

The staff were responsive and friendly and plenty around, even late at night.
Central location is great (7 minutes walk from Leicester Square) and felt safe returning there after midnight with my daughter.
Our room was an adequate sized twin on the 6th floor - lots of storage, a safe and en suite shower/toilet. Window was small but sufficient (no view due to design of building - recessed window at 45 degree angle to a wall). Decor, floor, furniture, shower, toilet etc were seemingly very clean...nothing, in fact, to explain the overwhelming smell of stale urine. Much sniffing and stripping/moving of beds didn't reveal an obvious source. The mattresses were stained a dark brown all over, but didn't actually smell 'bad' (I wouldn't normally look!). Sheets, etc were clean and crisp, carpet and toilet weren't guilty either. I'm sure, had I complained, something would have been done but I was heavily pressed for time and only in and out one night, so bore it, with the window open all night and a good spray of deodorant! Barring this odd anomaly, would use again for location, price, facilities, etc.
If staying longer, would want a fresher smelling room though! Read Less
