When I arrived to my hotel then 1. November there was no room for me - I was told. "Maintenance problems", said they. I was then promised a room in another hotel, Hotel Ramada in Ealington, which was very inconvinient as all my meetings were at Earls Court. A cab took me to Ramada, where nobody had heard anything about guest from Shaftesbury Hotel and tey were fully booked at the Ramada. I demanded to be driven back to Kensington. After another chat I finally received a room at the hotel across the street, Hogarth Hotel. A room next to the tube station.
I missed two of my first appointments due to this. I had travelled all the way from Copenhagen to visit some people, insteadI used the fiorst 3 hours of my bussiness time in London on a room-hunt, a room I had already booked and payed for.
I have to say that I am not very please with your services. After recieving this kind of welcome, I would have expected a discount or at least an upgrade, as it usually is if things like this appear.
Best Regards,
Virpi Vepsa

Apart from the fact that the room was 20 feet underground, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Shaftesbury Kensington Hotel (formerly Hogarth Hotel). The room was small but more than adequate, and had everything I required, including a comfortable bathtub. I could definitely consider staying there again. << click here to read less |

The Hogarth was clearly not ready and when I arrived at 8:15pm the head board was still being fixed. There was no minibar, the TV did not work, the room was small with far too much furniture in it making it claustrophobic. Room service was non-existant and they had to get stuff frommover the raod. I paid #12 for a cheese sandwich and 2 small diet cokes. The bathroom was good but the water pressure was awful so the shower was a mere trickle. What is it about London Hotels and showers? Why do the Amercians always manage to get a good water pressure?
The best thing about the hotel was the delightful Polish porter who could not have been more helpful. Would definately not go back. << click here to read less |

When we arrived the hotel was full of builders dust and grit everywhere. We passed our confirmation booking slip to the hotel staff. After the hotel staff took payment from my credit card they then told us they did not have any rooms available and got only put us up in a hotel on the overside of London. We had booked a twin room and the hotel told us the booking was made for single rooms even though it was clearly printed on the booking form 'twin room'. We had choose to stay at this hotel as we were attending a concert at Earls Court that evening and it would save us money on taxi fares etc. The hotel staff could not even give us directions to the other hotel either! As we were not getting anywhere with the hotel staff who were very rude and offered no customer service at all we spoke to the manager. Who then put us in a hotel round the corner. Where we had to pay ?30 for car parking adding to our bill. I am now writing a letter of complaint to yourselves and the Hogarth requesting the car parking bill to be recompensated. As we were staying only for one night it took several hours to be sorted and wasted our time in London. << click here to read less |

When we got to the hotel we did not have a working shower...they then gave us the key to another room to use that shower but the water was cold. We couldn't get an outside line and when we went to the bathroom when we first got there we found pubic hair on the floor. There was also construction going on at the hotel that woke us up at about 9am which we weren't aware when we booked the hotel. We couldn't get an outside line to call out when we needed to because the phones worked incorrectly. When talking to the staff there it was like talking to a wall...they were no help. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. << click here to read less |

First I would like to point out that I booked this hotel, based on this websites promise that a complimentary breakfast was included in the price - it wasn't. There was lots of renovation work going on in the hotel, but my room was changed to a quieter part of the hotel with no complaint from the staff.
Aside from that no major problems with the hotel, though the showerhead in my room was somewhat mildewed. Easy to find from the tube though and close enough to Earl's court to walk in a few minutes. << click here to read less |

The room was a bit of a let-down after seeing the gorgeous foyer area. There was no bar and the bathroom in our room was really smelly. We understand though that the hotel was being refurbished and I'm sure that it will be beautiful when finished and would like to go back to see it. The location for Earls Court is excellent though and we had a great time.
