The Hotel looks deceptively attractive from its pictures. However once inside reality kicks in and you find yourself suffering from shock. The main entrance itself was presentable as were the corridors but once in your box room all become clear. there was just about enough room for me to walk round the side of the bed to get in it. There was no ventilation in the tiny room so I was forced to open the heavy sash window which had spectactular views of walls to other properties with some kind of net which was housing several peices of rubbish. Below that was a generator that was making a herendous amount of noise leaving us with no choice but to close the window and try and breathe what little air was in the room. As for the en-suite, I dont know where to begin with this. The toilet was perched so close the the wall that when sitting down I had to lean forward because my shoulder was plastered to the wall. The shower space was tiny, I could only just get in but had to duck underneath it to get my hair wet, my back was placed firmly against the shower curtain and had no room to manouver whatsoever which also caused the water to overflow onto the flloor as there was no structure to the shower because it was almost on the same level as the floor. When flushing the toilet it would make a herendous noise which would continue for several minutes.
Breakfast was the biggest disapointment of all. Continental breakfast consisted of two slices of packet cheese and wafer thin economy ham Read Less

The hotel was in a good location for getting around London. Excellent resturants near by. McDonalds and Burger King were just around the corner for those who need to eat"American. The Royal Norfolk is a nice hotel. The rooms are quite small and storage for clothing limited. The hotel has many floors and some rooms can only be reached by stairs. There is a lift which will get you near your room but there could be many stairs to climb to get to the room My friend and I after the first night asked if there were any rooms that the lift would get us to with out lots of stairs. She was just getting over a broken leg and stairs were a problem. A room was located on the fourth floor just a few feet from the lift. When we went to the desk the next morning to ask for a porter we were told one wasn't available and we would have to move our own baggage. This ment draging them up to flights of stairs to the lift. We passed several employes and none offered to help. Except for the man that was on duty at the desk that morning all the employes were very friendly and helpful. Conintal breakfast was a bit of a surprise. We were gived two slices of ham and cheese the kind that one would find in the meat and cheese department of a grocery store.
London was wonderful

No heat in the room. A window that allowed the wind to blow into the room. Eventhoug the receptionist tried to turn on the heat it was without succes. Perhaps room 140 was the worst room. The Hotel is divided into two parts : one for people over 25 one for people under 25. We are 21 and were given a room on the top floor of a building right next to the hotel, linked to it by what was clearly a fire escape ramp. In this part of the hotel corridors were cramped and our room was very very small with a bathroom much like those in boat cabins, no room to move around the bed at all and a strange smell. I know this is quite a cheap hotel compared to many others in london, but it was not among the cheapest. I think it could have been a nice stay given the looks of the rest of the hotel, but service was weak and unfriendly, and it was really anoying to pay the same price as others and have what can hardly be called a room.

No one mentioned that our suite was directly above the underground tunnel. I'm sure if we opened the floor hatch we could watch the train go by. Thank God I brought earplugs.
But we were at first perplexed and then amazed when we were led out of the hotel, down the alley to a private 2 storey suite off the mews that slept 6, with a kitchen.
No bath though, and me with a cast on my arm, so I couldn't shower.
And dirty carpets, by the way.
