We shared a triple room which was very clean. Didn't get the toiletries one normally gets when staying at an hotel - just soap. No battery in remote control for the tv- called reception and this was sorted in 10 mins. Didn't rate the continental breakfast, would upgrade to full english next time. Great position for getting to the shops and theatres. Will definitely use again next year as only need to use the hotel to sleep. Excellent value compared to other hotels we have used. Read Less

Quality versus price: for 140 pounds per night (Room for 2) one would expect some luxury but there was no shampoo, no hairdryer, no telephone, no drinking water. Water from the tap is chlorinated and tastes foul. At 9 in the morning someone entered the room without knocking.
It is dificult to take a shower, the plastic curtain will cling to your body. The shower head is a solid fixture against the wall and can not be taken in the hand. Windows and mirror were in need of a good cleaning.
We had English breakfast. Our travel companion, an Indian girl from south america was the only one of people coming in for breakfast who had to show her breakfast card.
Quality of service provided: The only time I asked for service was when I found that the toast was finished. When I asked one of the waiters he told me to get in another queue. Read Less

Facilities were poor in that there were no hairdryers in the rooms and no shower gel/shampoos etc. Plus no water in the room.
In addition I had to change my room from the 7th to 2nd floor after 1 night, as the room was so noisy from the plant equipment/lifts/fans etc outside it was impossible to sleep.
However, the lady on Reception that assisted with my room transfer was excellent - vey helpful and happy to assit with my room change, which was very welcome after a night of bad sleep and 6 hours of exams that day!

I stayed in a single room, and it was fairly small but ok enough on size. The room itself was very simple, and not very pleasing to the eye. Also, the bed was not very comfortable. Since it cost me 70# per night, it was still a good deal based on location and me booking only a week in advance. No issues with staff, they were good in my case. Read Less

I was for 2 nights on 1st floor. Had to wait indefinitly to register. Last morning, while I was at breakfast, having left in the room a small locked bag, I found ( later ) that an item in a zipped pocket, not locked , had been"removed". It was an envelope containing some documentary photos in an enveloppe. The person who removed it (perhaps in a hurry) may have thought it contained money. This was very disturbing. When I phoned later ( from back home in Kent) the reply was off hand and uncaring!! Very bad impression, also at breakfast time chaos! T.Webster Read Less

The rooms seemed find, but as the hotel is so large the room was miles away. This was made worse when the card key kept failing and I had to return repeatedly to the Reception Desk. What can be done to imrpove this I don't know. Secondly it was practically impossible to get served for a drink or foods as the queues and general crowds of people were enormous. It was just impossible. Read Less

I will never stay here again so take note.
Arrived about 11:00 and we were polite. were told we could not check into our room until 14:00 even though we found out about 12:00 that it was ready for occupation. No guests were allowed to get into their rooms before 14:00. On asking for the Manager she came charging out of a back room and was the rudest person I have met, asking "what I was looking at" & telling me she had fought bigger men than me ! Her attitude was terrible. we tried to explain our reason for asking to get into our room and explain that if we did not get into the room now we would not be back there until 02:00, but she would not listen and continued to be nasty. On asking her to fetch the Hotel manager, she told me she was the Manager and her name was Nicky Burton. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and they always try to help with requests of early check-in. How this person ! got a job in customer service I will never now. She is an ambassador for this hotel so the Royal National Hotel should sort address this problem. If she had been friendly and explained this review would have been positive. Read Less

Had to change rooms, as first room stank of mold and damp. next room was nice although was disturbed on 2 seperate occasions by cleaning staff just letting themselves in without knocking. I must admit the food court was an absolute nightmare. Due to the number of hotel guests the food court was far too small with not enough food or facilities to have breakfast. queues were too long and waiters were of no help so unable to have breakfast.
I must admit this was not a good hotel and would not be going back there and this does not reflect good on your company either. Read Less
