I'll start by saying I would stay here again. For the money you can't expect too much, a bed, a bathroom and a simple breakfast. The location was the real winner, you are literally 2 minutes from Hyde Park and the Lancaster Gate tube station.
Bad points were that there are no tea/coffee facilities in the room and when I asked to buy a drink they said they do not sell them. Shame.
Also the shower leaked like mad and flooded the floor...but water dries and I am not royalty so it certainly didn't spoil my holiday.
The biggest gripe was the size of the breakfast room...it is fun trying to find one of 20 tables in a room with 60 people in...especially when the French bloke wouldn't share his 4 seat table with a couple that had to stand up.....you know who you are!!
Anyway, the staff were very nice and for the money you shouldn't really expect much more....okay a cup of tea would have been nice! Read Less

Rooms are very small. Don't expect to get a wake up call even if pre requested, we didn't get ours and it was only that we had a back up alarm that we didn't miss our early morning train to Heathrow. The first room we had was so small that we had difficulty sleeping without banging into the wardrobe. We asked to be moved and were placed next to the lift which was used most of the night. The young ladies on the front desk were very helpfull and the staff in the dining room were pleasant. Excellent location for Paddington Station and buses are readily available close to the hotel to go into the city. We walked through the parks which took about an hour. Read Less

OK breakfast was not very impressive, but I've had much worse, and there was croissants, juice and yougurt(naturelle) to accompany the toast, jam and coffe... Otherwise very good value for money. After reading some of the reviews, the place sounds scary to me, but I had already made the reservation. Upon arriving, I found the staff to be very helpful, the room was very clean, and breakfast is good. Some other reviewers find their breakfast not to be enough, but I thought it was more than adequate with fresh juices, coffee, cereals, yogurt, and croissants. The room was a bit cramp, but that is the case with most london's hotels. The toilett don't flush right, we had to press the lever at least 3 or 4 times before it flushes, but that seems to be the case for most of London's too. They're probably trying to save on water because water is so expensive over there. The location is excellent. The price is good compare to most other hotels I look at. Overall I would recommend this hotel. Read Less

the room was clean and although a single was still rather small and old fashioned but was just worth the price paid. it was a disappointment that we were back in the hotel at 10.30pm and the bar was closed. we had been to a concert and we were really looking forward to a drink and a chat. i remarked at reception that it was a bit early for the bar to be closed and all i got back was "yes it is". that spoilt what was up till then a good night. The toilets (in room & near breakfast room) did not flush properly.
The room was cold & drafty even with the radiator turned on full.
The room was wall-to-wall beds - nowhere any space for luggage. Could not access the wardrobe. On the plus side, the mattresses were good.
Cold cereal, toast, juice & coffee does not constitute a FULL [English] breakfast by my standards. Breakfast room staff could hardly speak English.
