The hotel is old and could do with refurbishment but the rooms are perfectly adequate, especially those en suite. The service is very good and there is great life about the place. Its best feature is its location right in Picadilly Circus. It is a shame it is closing down because I would always want to stay in such a convenient place. The hotel we stayed in was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.
There where american guests stopping in the hotel and we felt very embarrased to think they might think this hotel was the normal standard provided in this country.
We have visited america many times and stopped in there basic motels which proved far supperior then the regent palace.
The hotel bar requested a charge of #10.00 entrance fee on the night although we where residents.
Cleanliness is a very basic requirement expected of any hotel this hotel failed to get anywhere near that.
We will not be booking through your company again a very disapointed a o'sullivan Read Less

The Regents Palace is an ideal location though is in urgent need of redecoration. The rooms were adequate, though I would not stay again with private facilities as the communal toilet area was disgusting, smelly, untidy and generally dirty. I have stayed at the Regents Palace previously and the facilities have been of good standard shame they have deteriorated so much. Otherwise hotel facilities are very good and staff very helpful. Hotel is basic but in an excellent position. Just a short walk from Covent Garden and most of the theatres. Overall I think it is excellent value for money, but it certainly won't suit everyone.
If you book online, ring the hotel in advance to check they have your booking and the details- it took me 55 mins to check in because they had no record. Then when they eventually found it they said I had paid for a standard room which has no facilities when in fact I had paid nfor ensuite. It was all sorted out eventually but by that time the desk clerk and I were both pretty p...d off. The room was acceptable for a short stay ad excellently located. The room was clean but drab and depressing. the bed was comfortable. There was no double glazing in my room and I was awoken at around 3 am when the bins were being emptied in Picadilly. This went on until around 6.30! Normallyy I can block out sound. Music and the sound of people enjoying themselves is no problem for me, but bottles being dropped into metal containers for several hours is something else! I had little sleep, but the excellent day out that followed right on my doorstep more than made up for it. Read Less

The rooms were a bit basic and the bathroom very small, however the room was clean and the shower better that expected. What made this hotel value for money was the central location as Regent Street, Oxford Street, Leicester Square, Covent Garden Soho and China Town were all in walking distance.
Breakfast was included in the price but was a continental breakfast in a plastic container, which was supposed to be delivered to your room, but we had to fetch it ourselves. There was no breakfast room so breakfast was eat in your room and you made your own tea and coffee from the kettle provided so would recommend the hotel on their breakfast.
The other thing the hotel had going for it was Callaghan?s bar, which was open up to residence of the hotel after closing hours so there was a good mixture of different nationalities drinking in the bar.
Staff at the reception were friendly although you had to pay to leave you bags so don?t bring to much stuff or massive bags.
I would give the hotel 7/10 but mainly because of it's location rather than the hotel its self. Read Less

I was very disappointed, not only did the place need a really good clean, i can cope with old and tired, but not dirty! do you really want to know?? We had to take pictures because no one would believe it!!! We never took our socks off, didn't take a shower (only one night!!) and carefully checked the sheets before climbing into the lumpy beds!!
Let's talk about first impressions: when we entered the smokey lobby, we had to almost cover our faces to breathe the cigarette smoke was so thick!(yes, we realize they smoke a lot in London!) We'll excuse the TINY lift as the hotel is very old. Upon entering the room, we first noticed that the windows were stucik in the up position and it was very cold out. that's okay though as there was no heat anyway. The second thing we noticed were the many cigarette burn holes among the worn areas of the only chair in the room. )I swear I'm not making any of this up!!!!)
SHARED bathrooms...what an intereseting European concept. Didn't realize though that I'd be sharing the after effects of someone getting sick!! My son wouldn't know though as he insisted on holding his bladder the entire time there !!!!!!! You asked!!! Read Less

Excellent location and rates. Oddly enough, chamber maids speak not a word of English. Same true of some of the hotel's phone operators who are mostly asleep at the switch (when my wife tried to call me from New York several times, they let the phone ring endlessly and when they finally picked it up, they did not seem to understand English.
Other than those (minor)inconveniences, I would strongly recommend this hotel, if location is important to you.
