This hotel was extremely central to the DLR tube stop and the Excel Centre itself. Our room was clean and functional as you would expect from a hotel of this rating with an exceptionally large and comfortable bed. The seperate shower more of a wet room and toilet were well planned. The rooms are compact but well designed. The Ho Lee Chinese resturant on site was one of the highlights of our stay, pricy but excellent food. The continenal buffet breakfast included suited us but if you do feel the need for a full english I can heartily recommend upgrading, it was a small price to pay. I would recommend this hotel to those who want a no frills, well priced option. Would I make a return visit, absolutely, need I say any more than that. << click here to read less |

I was on crutches, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful throughout our stay, while we were attending a conference at the ExCel Centre just across the street. They allowed us to ship our boxes of pubilcatons to the hotel in advance and then even let us borrow a trolley to haul the boxes over to the meeting.
The room was small and the bathroom, really tiny, but the bed was comfortable. The pub ; restaurant adjoining the hotel is a comfortable place, and the food is good and reasonably priced. << click here to read less |

We had to ask 3 times and waited well over half an hour - by now gone 11pm ; we were all very tired. Eventually we were given a blanket and duvet - no duvet cover. Also, my husband had phoned ahead to ask re: breakfast ; was told he could have cooked or continental. In the morning, they said he could only have cooked if he paid extra for it. i have stayed at Custom House a few times prior to booking with your company and have found it to be okay. the convenience of the tube is a plus when one is travelling alone. the things against it are no mattress protectors on the beds and pillows not that good. the most frustrating about it is the inconsiderate guests who let the doors slam shut throughout the night every night.

Without a doubt the most disgusting "Hotel" we have ever had the bad fortune to stay in. A mattress that was so lumpy that it bruised my leg, one filthy blanket ; a sheet making up the only bedding, and dirt, including body fluids, like we have never seen in our lives and we have lived in Africa most of our lives, so that is really saying a lot! We did complain on our first night but the manager could hardly speak English ; was most unhelpful and disinterested. The following day we tried in vain to find other accomodation in the area ; as we were in London for an important birthday ; family reunion had no time to make any other alternative arrangements until Monday. We finally found a Manager interested in our discomfort and were moved to a suit but found it had no hot water. At last later that afternoon we got a room that was more acceptable, although not much cleaner I am afraid. I booked my whole family into this place for the 30th so one can really say it was a dirty, cold ; uncomfortable experience for the whole family! However, although location was good for convenience stores, tubes and night buses, the area was the only thing that in my eyes, let the place down, but....the good points outweighed that by a long shot.
