We have stayed at this hotel before and have generally found it very good. This stay was even better due to the refurbishment and would benefit from (a) A few drawers,or even shelves ,in the standard double room for clothing etc. We had to leave clothes other than dresses and coats in our cases.(b) New double glazing. The old sash windows did not close properly and the inside shutters did not keep out the traffic noise. We are sure that these shortcomings are in hand with the ongoing modernisation. We will certainly stay at the Corus on our next London trip. Best wishes Allan & Wendy Ironside. Read Less

Very compact room. Clean and well appointed. Bathroom a bit of a squeeze with a tiny handbasin and badly illuminated generally so difficult to make use of mirror! The very basic continental breakfast is a help yourself affair in what is best described as an eating area which would benefit having its table tops washed and the floor washed to removed stickiness.
Otherwise quite adequate! Read Less

My daughter and I had a two night mid week break at the Corus in July 08. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room, although quite small, was well appointed and more than adequate for a short stay. The hotel foyer is modern and airy and the buffet breakfast good. It's only a two minute walk from theLancaster Gate tube stop and near to Paddington for trains to Heathrow. The area felt safe to walk in at night. I would highly recommend this hotel for quality, price and location. Read Less

I really recommend this hotel. It's very well situated (2 minutes walk from Lancaster Gate tube station and in front of Hyde Park). The rooms and the toilets aren't very big but they are very clean. The continental breakfast it's pretty good (self service) with croissants, 3 different classes of cereals, 2 classes of juice, coffee, chocolate or milk, jam, butter, cheese and ham.
And the staff people are very kind. Read Less

The room was very small. No place to move for to persons and no place to put our suitcases. The bathroom was terrible. So tiny and we almost do not get trough the door into the bathroom. As stated, we considered the Corus Hyde Park Hotel, very well situated and clean. However, our room was very, very small, no wardrobe or drawers, only a very small hanging area with 6 hangers. As we were staying for 5 nights it was made very uncomfortable as there was no where to put smalls or underwear. It boasted a large desk, which occupied a huge space in the relatively small area, which could well have incorporated some drawers. As far as service was concerned, three of our lifts were not operating (4th floor) and we landed up having to get out via the fire escape on the ground floor. I reported the incident to the Duty Manager, but he was unable to get the lifts repaired until the Monday morning (out of order from the Saturday morning) Furthermore, our handbasin was leaking and despite reporting it to the concierge and the Duty Manager, the only way it was fixed (also 3 days later) was to talk to the Housekeeper. The bedroom was fitted with a small fan and was unbearably hot. We asked for the windows to be opened and finally had to sign a paper taking responsiblity in case anyone broke in!! We were on the 4th floor! It would have been so much more pleasant if we had not had to deal with the above, and we would certainly not recommend the hotel nor would we visit it again. Perhaps one gets what one pays for, but we believe that the Hotel could have made our stay much more pleasant. Yours sincerely, Anne and Mike Taylor. Read Less

I wanted to be near Lancaster Gate for ease of travel into Central London (Central Line). There was work being done on the Central line causing closure of Lancaster Gate station so I used buses and got very proficient at that (with 7-day Oyster card). I was thrilled that my hotel room had a safe for my laptop, but then I felt compelled to use it every time I left the room as if just because it's there, my laptop would disappear if NOT in the safe! There aren't a lot of restaurants within 2 blocks of this hotel, but its restaurant is quite good with a variety of foods. The only drawback for me as an American is the exchange rate which took the fun out of shopping and made this a very expensive vacation for one person! To get to the airport, I took the bus to Notting Hill Gate, stopped at Starbucks for a coffee and sandwich, then went to Earl's Court on the District line and to Heathrow from there. There were not too many stairs to lug my bag up and down (Earl's Court has elevators) and with my Oyster card, the fare was only 1 pound versus the 17 pounds that my hotel limo would have cost. After seeing so many spring flowers in bloom in England, I'm sad to be back in snow-covered New Hampshire! Read Less
