After a slight hiccup when we were given an occupied room at check-in, which was speedily remedied, we had a most enjoyable stay at the Corus. We had a view over Hyde Park, we had a very reasonable pre-show dinner in the restaurant and a good breakfast. Even though we were the last ones down there was plenty left and we did not feel we were being hurried. All the staff we met were very pleasant and attentive. << click here to read less |

The hotel was fine for a one night stopover in London - rooms were small, but that's what other reviewers had already said, so no surprises there. Just beware that if you choose the breakfast in the room option, because you pay for the room up front, they'll want you to pay the tray charge in cash when it arrives - it's only a fiver, but it can catch you unawares half asleep in your dressing gown! Finally - not a problem caused by the hotel, but Lancaster Gate tube is undergoing renovation and it was closed when we got there - so we spent a lot on cabs. << click here to read less |

Having stayed in a lesser star rating in the same area I was less impressed with the Corus Hyde Park than I had expected.
The continental breakfast persons were separated from the full English breakfast persons with no option seemingly available to have a cooked breakfast, even if one had so wished.
A tray of pottery MUGS for collecting your own tea and coffee and a limited range of breakfast cereals with very small amounts of fruit were all that were available compared to personal table service and a much greater range of breakfast foods in the lesser hotel.
The room was clean and comfortable and the environment of the hotel was pleasant, as was the breakfast area. The above comments are only intended to help improve the service as there seemed to be enough staff available to provide table service. << click here to read less |

Exceptional service at reception desk, cabs readily available, clean elevators, the bar lounge area was/is conducive to being able to sit and relax while enjoying a drink and I found the young lady (of Slavic origin I believe) working the bar to be very professional and helpful. The cleanihng staff on the floors were great. I have stayed here perhaps five times over the past six years, and have been very happy, and the price is reasonable, considering I am coming from Canada. I will be staying with you guys again at the end of June/09 for a couple of nights - will be looking ofrwrad to it.

We loved to stay in this Hotel.
The Hotel was clean, on a good and quiet location and easy to access by the Tube (about 3 to 5 min to walk).
Our newly renovated room in the 7th floor was very compact, but big enough for two person staying tree nights. A good bed, silent aircon, safe, spacious writing table and cable-tv. I only missed a wardrobe for luggage and the clothes. The bathroom is small, but the designers did a tremendous job to place everything - still enough space for one person.
Tip: if you go out for a long stay, book the extra "English Breakfast" if it's not included instead of the "Continental Breakfast". Its around 8 pounds, but offers a much richer buffet. My rating: 7 of 10 for the "English Breakfast" instead 3 of 10 for the "Continental Breakfast". << click here to read less |

An excellent and good value hotel and very convenient. Buses stop virtually outside, the underground is yards away. The room we had for three nights was very small but clean and comfortable. The bathroom similarly so - only marred by some odd stucture above the bath which meant that no one over 4ft could possibly stand up under the shower. It would seem that many of them are like this. There is a pleasant small bar serving reasonable snacks and meals and a decent more formal restaurant downstairs. Everyone is friendly and efficient. << click here to read less |

Hotel was conveniently situated for the places we wanted to visit (Royal Albert Hall and V;A Museum were right across Hyde Park). Staff were friendly and helpful, we were able to check in early. We dined in the restaurant which was good value and excellent food. The room was spacious and had a good view of Hyde Park although traffic was a little noisy in the night. The TV was rather small and it would have been nice to have been able to get BBC Radio Four in addition to the 4 stations offered. << click here to read less |

We have stayed at this hotel before and have generally found it very good. This stay was even better due to the refurbishment and would benefit from (a) A few drawers,or even shelves ,in the standard double room for clothing etc. We had to leave clothes other than dresses and coats in our cases.(b) New double glazing. The old sash windows did not close properly and the inside shutters did not keep out the traffic noise. We are sure that these shortcomings are in hand with the ongoing modernisation. We will certainly stay at the Corus on our next London trip. Best wishes Allan ; Wendy Ironside. << click here to read less |

Very compact room. Clean and well appointed. Bathroom a bit of a squeeze with a tiny handbasin and badly illuminated generally so difficult to make use of mirror! The very basic continental breakfast is a help yourself affair in what is best described as an eating area which would benefit having its table tops washed and the floor washed to removed stickiness.
Otherwise quite adequate! << click here to read less |

My daughter and I had a two night mid week break at the Corus in July 08. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room, although quite small, was well appointed and more than adequate for a short stay. The hotel foyer is modern and airy and the buffet breakfast good. As stated, we considered the Corus Hyde Park Hotel, very well situated and clean. However, our room was very, very small, no wardrobe or drawers, only a very small hanging area with 6 hangers. As we were staying for 5 nights it was made very uncomfortable as there was no where to put smalls or underwear. It boasted a large desk, which occupied a huge space in the relatively small area, which could well have incorporated some drawers. As far as service was concerned, three of our lifts were not operating (4th floor) and we landed up having to get out via the fire escape on the ground floor. I reported the incident to the Duty Manager, but he was unable to get the lifts repaired until the Monday morning (out of order from the Saturday morning) Furthermore, our handbasin was leaking and despite reporting it to the concierge and the Duty Manager, the only way it was fixed (also 3 days later) was to talk to the Housekeeper. The bedroom was fitted with a small fan and was unbearably hot. We asked for the windows to be opened and finally had to sign a paper taking responsiblity in case anyone broke in!! We were on the 4th floor! It would have been so much more pleasant if we had not had to deal with the above, and we would certainly not recommend the hotel nor would we visit it again. Perhaps one gets what one pays for, but we believe that the Hotel could have made our stay much more pleasant. Yours sincerely, Anne and Mike Taylor. << click here to read less |

I wanted to be near Lancaster Gate for ease of travel into Central London (Central Line). There was work being done on the Central line causing closure of Lancaster Gate station so I used buses and got very proficient at that (with 7-day Oyster card). I was thrilled that my hotel room had a safe for my laptop, but then I felt compelled to use it every time I left the room as if just because it's there, my laptop would disappear if NOT in the safe! There aren't a lot of restaurants within 2 blocks of this hotel, but its restaurant is quite good with a variety of foods. The only drawback for me as an American is the exchange rate which took the fun out of shopping and made this a very expensive vacation for one person! To get to the airport, I took the bus to Notting Hill Gate, stopped at Starbucks for a coffee and sandwich, then went to Earl's Court on the District line and to Heathrow from there. There were not too many stairs to lug my bag up and down (Earl's Court has elevators) and with my Oyster card, the fare was only 1 pound versus the 17 pounds that my hotel limo would have cost. After seeing so many spring flowers in bloom in England, I'm sad to be back in snow-covered New Hampshire! << click here to read less |

This very clean, nicely decorated hotel is well-maintained, with very pleasant public spaces. Some excellent staff members, some only so-so. Great location close to Kennsington Gardens, Hyde Park, Paddington Station and the underground. The rooms, though, are tiny even by London standards. At bedtime, it feels like you're on a cruise ship. By morning, it's more like a camping trailer. My room had very poor ventilation and was hot even with the heat off. The rooms would be fine for a single traveler with one small bag, but for a couple it's a very cramped fit. Despite many positives, we wouldn't stay here again. << click here to read less |

The location of this hotel is wonderful. We really enjoyed our early morning walk through Hyde Park. Breakfast was fine and we managed to sit in a bay window with a view of the park which made it even better. We had a very enjoyable stay at the Corus, the hotel was in a very convenient location and we had lovely views over Kensington Gardens. There was a very relaxed atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. Our room was a standard double and although it was quite small, for the price we paid there was everything we needed and let's face it we weren't in London to spend our days in our room. The main thing was it was kept clean and refreshed every day and our hospitality tray was replenished daily. I would recommend this hotel as it is in a really nice area close to Paddington Station and 2 mins from Lancaster Gate Tube so it's easy to get around all the sights and shops. We will definitely stay there again when we return to London. << click here to read less |

Had an excellent room overlooking Hyde Park and its proximity to Lanchaster Gate Underground made it so easy yo tour London. The Fire Drill was a bit unfortunate and we could have been told what was going on instead of being stood fo 45mins with no communication from the hotel staff. Other than that this Hotel was lovely and would stay here again. << click here to read less |

The room was extremely small (and very hot), but I would say that it had all that was needed, if somewhat basic. The shower did not work properly in my room and I had to use the bath instead. However, this may be a common problem as I overheard the lady in the next room also had problems with her shower.
Roomsnet need to be a little clearer on details such as breakfast. I thought that it included a full english breakfast (which would certainly have compensated for the inadequate room) but I was told that continental was my allocated breakfast! Quite embarassing, as there was a queue for the dining room of people that were entitled to a "full english". I wonder who they booked with? << click here to read less |

Overall I thought the hotel was good, although the room was very warm and the window only opened a small amount. I think an English breakfast should be included in the price, rather than a continental breakfast. I thought the service in the restaurant in the morning was quite poor as we weren't directed to a table when we arrived in the morning, we were just told sit anywhere there is loads of room, when in fact there was no room at all and we had to wait for a table. << click here to read less |

hotel had a problem with the laundry so all rooms were not available on arrival at 15- 20 at 17-40 two guests were informed they could not have access to the room until 19-30, the time we were being picked up to go out. They were then offered single rooms which was a pain as they were mother ; daughter ; were sharing some of their commodities they had brought. It was rather inconvenient but we made the best of the situation so as not to spoil our weekend. << click here to read less |

The Corus Hyde Park was excellent. Unfortunately, during my two night stay there were three fire alarms when we all had to exit to the street. These things happen, however, and as an architect, I can confirm that the fire escape provisions appeared to work well. I would certainly use your service again. Thank you. << click here to read less |

The reception and breakfast was good.
The room lacked drawer space; but the bed was comfortable and bathroom was good.
The fire alarm needs attention; it went off twice
Our real criticism is that the windows don't open anymore. When it is 30 degrees and there is no air conditioning it is very uncomfortable.
Without a vent, the electric fan provided only circulates stale air.
A local joiner would ease the windows and get the window cord working again quite cheaply; its not a big job.
Many thanks. << click here to read less |
