I was disappointed with my room on this stay at the Strand Palace. It was a 'Club Room' and the bedroom itself had obviously been redecorated, and looked nice, with the free mineral water and magazine being a nice touch. But the bathroom was very small and you had to squeeze in beside the toilet to be able to close the door. The main thing was the heat though - it was sweltering and really quite uncomfortable, even with the provided fan on. It made it difficult to sleep at night, and not a nice place to come back to after a busy day out. This spoilt what was an otherwise great hotel. << click here to read less |

9 ladies went to London-Strand Palace Hotel, some rooms were good as they had been upgraded but in the ones that had not the bathrooms very tired and toilets stained. Cost of snacks and drinks excesive, they have done away with draught beer and can only get bottles at #4.50each. diet coke #2.50 for glass. Breakfast excellent and everything available both hot and cold. Hotel very convenient for theatres, and restaurants which was useful as we have a person in a wheelchair and we could walk to many attractions. Hotel rooms would benefit from a fridge as we took our own milk as they never provide enough and you need to ring up every day to get more.They now also charge #2 per item for left luggage. We would have vacated our rooms at 10.a.m. if we could have stored our luggage until train time but at a cost of over #20.00 between us left it in the rooms.
All in all a reasonable, comfortable hotel convenient for many places in London but it could do with a refurb << click here to read less |

This is the 5th time I have stayed at the Strand Palace, and was here for 8 days in total this time.
Located on the Strand itself, the hotel is only 5 minutes walk from Charing Cross and Trafalgar Square, 2 minutes walk from Covent Garden (and about 3 minutes from Covent Garden tube station), and all the main theatres are within 20 minutes walk - that's what I went for.
Check in was immediate, even though I turned up early. The room was clean and well presented, and everything worked. Half way through my stay the power went off in my room, but maintenance were there in 5 minutes (3 of them!) and everything was back to normal within 30 minutes.
Full English breakfast was good and no queues (I went todwn to breakfast about 8.15 each morning). All staff were friendly, polite and helpful.
I've stayed at posher and far more expensive hotels, but in my experience for value for money and location, the Strand Palace is hard to beat and always my first choice hotel. Highly recommended. << click here to read less |

It was busy at breakfast but didn't wait too long to be seated and food was great. We could hear some traffic noise from our front-facing room, but it wasn't intrusive on 7th floor. Room was clean if not a little worn, with plenty of space. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Location is brilliant with Covent Garden 10 mins walk away. It surprised us that all the pubs in the area closed at 11pm on week nights - we missed last orders in the local one night and chanced the hotel bar. Beware the prices (#9 for 2 bottles of Becks - we expected it to be expensive but blimey!). Try the Roundhouse pub in nearby Garrick St- cheaper and nice friendly atmosphere. Would recommend Porters few mins walk away in Henrietta St for good quality English food. All in all, very happy with our stay and would use the hotel again. << click here to read less |

This hotel was of an excellent standard, very clean spacious rooms, breakfast was great buffet everything, the staff could not do enough to help and were very pleasant. The location was second to none about a 5 min walk from covent garden tube and right in amongst the theatres, bars restaurants, then only about 10 mins walk to leicester square and trafalgar square so plenty of opportunity not to use the tube. This is the 2nd time I have stayed at the Strand Palce Hotel. The hotel is located in a central part of London wtih easy access to the tube at Covent Garden or Charing Cross. The room was clean and quiet as in the centre of the hotel so no traffic noise from the road. The staff were extremely helpful nothing was too much trouble. It does get busy at breakfast time and there is often a queue, and some staff get a bit flustered when it is really busy, but this is a minor detail in an otherwise excellent hotel. Everything about this hotel is excellent, the location couldn't be better being right on The Strand which is ideal for Covent Garden, Leicester Square etc. Nearest tube is Charing Cros just dopwn the road so easy to get to other attractions as well.....buy an Oyster card they save you money on the tube compared to standard tickets and day travel cards! The food was excellent and the service with a smile approach at breakfast was lovely! My only complaint was that the room was very hot and we had to make use of the supplied fan and also our room was next to a cleaners store so it did get a little noisy in the morning as the cleaners arrived and started about their duties. Other than that I would happily return but just making sure I avoided the cleaners! My room was 172 by the way. Upon arrival a map of the floor you are on is provided so just have a glance to see where you are and ask at check to be moved if you think you could be close to the cleaners store rooms.
