Trapani is located on the West coast of Sicily at the foot of Mount Erice and boasts a superior transportation service that links the rest of Sicily. This region is resplendent with great natural beauty, especially its breathtaking coastline with its sandy beaches like San Vito Lo Capo. Trapani mainly relies on fishing and winemaking for its upkeep along with salt mining, almond crops and tourism. The older part of town boasts a few buildings of historical significance. Most of the city has been reconstructed with modern buildings that have ousted the splendour of its bygone architecture. A summer music festival is held in July every year along with its annual tuna festival. Seafood is exceptional in this part of Sicily.
