Taormina is known as Italy’s most famous resort town. It has seemingly endless winding medieval streets and tiny passages cramped with restaurants that offer seafood and local cuisine. Shops offer quality craft items especially fashion, jewelry, ceramics, mosaics, puppets and porcelain dolls, cafes and ice cream bars. Taormina has many attractions housed within its pleasant squares and you might even be lucky to get a glimpse of Europe’s greatest natural wonder, Mount Etna’s nocturnal fires of lava. The archeological monuments, secluded gardens and medieval relics of old Taormina fascinate visitors from all over the world. Several sandy beaches are located nearby, whilst the Alcantara Gorge created by volcanic activity is a twenty minute drive from Taormina. Many hotels offer comfortable accommodation for guests.
