Located on the Western coast of Sicily, 30 kms south of Trapani, Marsala is famous for the manufacture of cooking wine. This region has been identified to have a suitable climate to grow fine grapes and so the Marsala wine business still continues to thrive, a rival of Port and Madeira. Many Roman ruins are found in the city with Cape Boeo housing a villa with baths and colourful mosaics. The Baglio Anselmi Archeological Museum has several important relics that include a Punic era ship. The older streets still retains its Baroque aspects and today this little town is flourishing with Marsala wine trade. The many hotels and restaurants are full of businessmen who frequently visit Marsala for trade purposes.
