The Galeon was recommended by a friend as a less pretentious and cheaper alternative to the usual Sitges four stars. It lived up to the hype in most aspects, being both friendly and perfectly situated. The breakfast was great, with a huge choice of food to suit all tastes. The pool area, though small, was a real bonus in this hotel. Free wifi was also very useful, although this was not available in our room (but strong and fast in the spacious reception area).
Negatives: not enough electrical outlets in the bedrooms; beds were too big for the room making it difficult to squeeze past; towels were worn; aircon was weak (it was 30oC most of our stay and the room still got very stuffy at night).
Some very odd things happened with maintenance ? one day, one of the legs of my bed was removed for no apparent reason, making my bed dangerously unstable ? it was replaced the next day (eventually) but the mystery remains why it was removed in the first place!
Handy hint: you don't need to take beach towels if you are staying here ? they offer a daily beach towel service which only requires a 15 euro refundable deposit. << click here to read less |

The Galeon has just been refurbished. The reception area and bar are much improved, reception staff are extremely helpful with a good standard of English. The bedrooms have had a makeover with new beds and pictures,flat screen TVs and fridges are just being delivered to bedrooms - I imagine these will evolve into mini bars! The Galeon no longer serve evening meals, which we feel is a great loss - particularly as Sitges prices generally have risen very steeply this year. The breakfasts at the Galeon are a work of art - especially if you fancy strawberries and cream or a fancy pastry for breakfast! They must be the best in Spain.
The pool area still doesn't have enough seating/lounging provision - and the deck chairs have disappeared!
We especially noticed the rampant amount of grafitti in the town,but then we learned that there is a 30% unemployment rate amongst young men - maybe there is a connection.
We were shocked to see the San Sebastion beach closed and the road dug up - not sure what is happening there.
Monbus travellers should note that the airport pick-up point has just changed to beyond the railway arches instead of the Oasis.

The Galeon Hotel is on two streets!The main Hotel in front which has a manned desk and the Pavilion part of the Hotel is on the street behind which is unmanned, but you need to go and get your key from the main reception if you are staying here.(Important if you arrive late,and in lashing rain!)
Breakfast is in the main Hotel but you have access with your swipe card through the pool area via a gate.
Wonderful breakfast. Close to train station. 8 to 10 minute walk to the beach. Rooms are very basic but for the price they are just fine! We would certainly go back.

We were situated in the annexe of the hotel and felt a little remote but it did not affect our very enjoyable stay, my only concern for the future is how will the building work about to go ahead next door affect the sunlight on the small balconies we had , and the building noise factor whilst under construction. The staff were excellent and Fabio the bar attendant was very knowledgeable on places to see and local information. The breakfast is buffet style with a huge choice of freshly cooked food, fruit and pastries. The rooms are spotless and cleaned daily. The evening meal is a bargin at 9 euros for 3 courses, all delicious.
The downside is if you get a road-facing room which is noisy. Just ask to change and the reception staff will try to oblige. Also, we unfortunately suffered two robberies, one on the beach and one in the hotel restaurant. I suggest that you only take out essentials and lock away valuables. We lost our camera, purse and mobile.

If they suspect you are bringing back a 'guest' you are challenged and if necessary check you and your guest's ID to see if it matches up with their records of who and how many people are staying in the room. Which seems ridiculous, as the hotel has a pavillion annexe (a separate building) which is part of the hotel, but not accessed by the main reception, so you can bring back who you want, when you want. We stayed in the Galeon in June of this year. Hotel is right slap bang in the middle of everything. If you are looking for a comfy bed don't stay there. The mattress was akin to sleeping on a rock, but the pillows were nice and soft. Breakfast is your usual continental, a good selection of fruits, cold meats, breads etc. The hotel pool is rather quirky, quite small with only a small number of sunbeds. When we arrived there were 5 sunbeds available which increased to 7 by the time we checked out, also the pool area is not open until 11 a.m. If you are looking for a poolside drink or snack forget it. You will have to get your drink from the hotel bar which has strange opening hours but there is water and soft drinks available from a vending machine. No snack facilities available in the hotel. If you are hungry during the day you will have to eat elsewhere. We stayed in the Pavillion which was nice but make sure you get a room at the back otherwise you will be woken quite early by the outside traffic. The rooms in the Pavillion are a lot bigger than the rooms in the main Hotel building. Hotel staff were nice and friendly. The Galeon is an ideal base for easy access to the beach, shopping, clubs and only a few minutes walk from the railway and bus station. All in all a nice quirky little hotel but if you are looking for luxury don't stay there. << click here to read less |

We booked a late deal and found ourselves allocated to the Pavilion part of the hotel. This is located on a quieter adjacent street, but is still right in the heart of the town. Bars and restaurants are literally 2 minutes away, so the location is wonderful. The hotel was spotless. Breakfast was a banquet every morning. The evening meal was the best value food in town - we opted to eat in 3 nights. 3 courses for under 10 euros! The only slight gripe for me was the result of being located right in town - a bit of noise in the small hours outside in the street as the odd person stumbled home or the roadsweeper went by. Wax earplugs solved that one. Although we didn't use the pool area it was also spotless and quite tranquil. The shadiness of the pool area would be a bonus in the height of summer. Sitges is a very cosmopolitan town - very mixed gay and straight crowd. We had a great holiday. << click here to read less |

Very good breakfast which incudes cava!! Very comfortable and excellent value.Nice to see the bar stars open late and we were the only couple using it at12.15 am.

The rooms were basic but clean. The hotel was split over 2 sites, we were in the Pavillion side and the only down side was that the street outside was noisy.
The hotel pool area was clean and breakfast was good, but sometimes the hot food section was actually cold! Not nice eating cold sausages or bacon. Plenty to choose from.
The location for Sitges was great, in 2 minutes walk you were in the centre and that was great. 5 minute walk from the train station. Staff were friendly and reception were able to answer most of your questions.
Overall it is a place that we would go back to and we are already discussing going back next year for a weekend. << click here to read less |
