Built at the turn of the 20th Century, Hotel Termes Montbrio has Edwardian flourishes with added modernist touches and Catalan style. This famous resort is set in four hectares of abundant gardens, bursting with lush bougainvillea, cacti, sequoias and fruit trees. The beautifully landscaped grounds are perfect for relaxing, especially with the fragrant scent of exotic flowers wafting through the air. There is good shopping around the market and the pedestrian malls in the centre of the city. The Part Alta has various antique shops, art galleries and Roman reproduction art. You will find exquisite handmade lace and embroidery, regional Tarragona Priorat and Mistella red wine and local ceramics in the Calle Cabutxins by the Roman Forum. Take a trip to the Picasso Museum in Horta de Sant Joan. The area is rich in history, especially in and around Tarragona. See the Roman aquaducts and an amphitheatre, beautiful medieval cathedrals, Cistercian monasteries and many fine vineyards.

Leisure facilities include both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, beach club with facilities, tennis, gymnasium with a panoramic view, a lake and a botanical garden. In the Tarragona region, there are five 18-hole golf courses, three of them within a 10km distance from the resort. Also on offer locally are horse riding, sailing and adventure sports. The hotel Termes Montbrio recently unveiled a new Spa Aquatonic and Leisure Centre pavilion including a 400sq m area of stimulating thermal waters.

The resort boasts two gourmet restaurants. La Sequoia offers international cuisine. L'Horta Florida has French and Mediterranean food and serves regional seafood specialties. Some of the dishes are prepared with Romesco sauce made with olive oil, crushed nuts, sweet peppers, onions, garlic and tomatoes. Other traditional dishes on offer include arros negre (rice cooked in cuttlefish ink) and calamars amb xocolata (squid with chocolate). Low-calorie meals are served on request.

The 146 stylishly decorated rooms are spacious, comfortable and air-conditioned. Five of the suites are distinctly decorated with Arabic, British, Colonial, Italian and Japanese influences..
