The Hotel Royal Star is a typical 1970's built hotel that has been recently refurbished up to its present standard. The rooms are very clean and comfortable although typically the walls are paper thin. The food is typical of an all inclusive style hotel with both a hot and cold buffet available at all mealtimes. The food is quite good really and reviews that state the food is terrible are very misleading. I am quite a fussy eater and always found something tasty at every meal. The in between snacks are also quite good. The hotel staff are brilliant considering the difficult job they do. Speak to them in a nice manner and they are as helpful and courteous as possible. The indoor swimming pool, jaccuzzi, gym etc are all to a high standard and well worth a visit. The indoor pool is very shallow and ideal for children. The two outdoor pools are very deep and although they have a seperate childrens area I would advise extreme caution when travelling with small children or non swimmers! The entertainment in the hotel is virtually non existent in the Winter months. The hotel tries to make all types of guest, from all types of countries feel welcome and wanted. However, the main problem in this hotel is the appalling behaviour of our fellow guests! Unfortunately, these all seem to be from the UK/ireland and seem to think its great fun to shout/swear and make complete fools of themselves. In conclusion excellent hotel and facilities.... shame about the guests! << click here to read less |

The hotel is a lovely, spacious hotel and is located 10 minutes from Lloret Town Centre. At the time of our holiday, the hotel was 95% full of Spanish pensioners - who appearred to be having a lovely holiday, but judging from most of the staff's demeanour they may be hard work. The ladies who serviced our room were lovely and very friendly and did a wonderful job, they should pass on their smiles and helpfulness to the bar and reception staff, who bordered on surly quite often.
With nearly 1000 people staying in the hotel, meal times were always very busy - but only having two service points for each meal is not a good idea.
The food itself was decidedly average - very much canteen food.
But we only paid a small price for one week's fully inclusive - so in some ways we got what we paid for.
I highly recommend the trip to Barcelona - booked through reception. << click here to read less |
