It was the week before Easter and the hotel was offering special deals for students and local people. The hotel was very, very full. The restaurant was very big but we had difficulty finding a vacant table on several occasions. The food was mainly the same every day for all meals with no variation . the layout of the restaurant was such that everyone was having to push through others to get to the buffet meals. Because of the number of customers, the noise level in the restaurant was very loud, and the staff did not seem to be able to cope, as plates were not cleared from the tables between courses. << Click here to read less

Getting breakfast was like the survival of the fittest with them pushing to get into the food. The location of the hotel is central for beach, Old Town ; directly on English Square. All the lifts in the hotel were in the process of 'upgrading', that being the excuse of having to wait 20-30 minutes to get up ; down at busy periods, floors 1-17 main part. No priority given to disabled guests being given ground floor rooms, even as a safety issue. The ground/lower floors in main part ; lower roadside anex, floors 1-8 given as priority to the elderly Spanish. The rooms were basic but generally clean, change of towels each day. The entertainment being very Spanish focused as there were still many elderly/retired spanish guests, no English translation. The food was very basic ; lacking choice. The gym ; sauna were at an extra charge, sauna 10 euros session a little pricey, guests given same rate as outside visitors. << Click here to read less

The hotel Marina was an absolute delight to stay in. The staff were always helpful and as I was taking my 85 year old mother on holiday, this was most important to us. The food and service was excellent, from the delightful chef who was on hand to produce omelettes to order every morning at breakfast,To the speciality carvery evenings in the dining room, to the bar staff who always remembered our drinks preferences in the evenings. The rooms and were beautifully clean and in fact our room maid was so good I wrote a 'thank you' card in spanish to her when we left.All things considered I would recommend the Marina Hotel to anyone, it is superb! << Click here to read less

The second point was the gym and all the facilities associated with it - nowhere in the blurb does it tell you that it all costs to use. As a 4* hotel, I would have expected to have all the facilities foc.

2 drawbacks 1stly didn't like queing up for breakfast ; evening meal for half an hour,; 2ndly couldn't get a seat or bed by the pool at 9.00am because towels covered all of them. (very annoying) especially as nobody was actually by the pool.
