The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, however when we got out of the lift to walk to our room there was a very stale odor that loomed in the corridor.The bedroom was basic but clean. We had dinner in the restaurant, the food was poor, the fact that we were the only people dining in the entire restaurant should have been enough of an indication as to the quality of the meals being served. Our desserts were supposed to be a type of warm apple pie but the apples were frozen right through, certainly not what you'd expect for a dessert that cost E6.95 each. Breakfast was another disappointment, fruit flies were flying around the croissants something i'd never seen in a hotel before.

Although the hotel was extremely nice with efficient and helpful staff, it's location is not necessarily desirable. The hotel is situated away from the majority of attractions. There are metro's nearby but walking around that area very late at night or early hours of the morning maybe of concern to some visitors.
As mentioned, the hotel was lovely (and value for money), but the room that we were given faced a street that had a few clubs/bars that were exceptionally popular and noisy from late at night until the early hours of the morning. We enjoyed a super 5 day holiday in Barcelona - what a city!. Hotel was not situated in an exciting part of the city but was convenient for access to the beach and also the metro. Pool is very small but the boys (ages 15 and 12) enjoyed messing around. Staff very helpful - particularly David on Reception - he supplied us with a map and marked some excellent tapas bars - which we visited! When we come back to Barcelona we would stay here again.

We stayed at the Pere iv 9th Sept to 13th Sept 2007. on arrival at the local metro station bogatell we found the area to be very run down and more a small whare house type area which is also a bit smelly from the drains(but so are many hot countrys). However we were very pleased with the hotel which so clean with a marble floor entrance and reception with bar and seating area. The room was also very clean with a marble hall way and toilet seperated from the bedroom by a seperate door. the beds were comfortable and the room had a writing table with 3 comfy chairs plus an ample size lamp table all furnishings were of a high standard. A fridge had a complimentry range of soft drinks restocked daily. The hotel staff all spoke very good english and were most helpful in every way.
Our recomendation is that this is a good hotel to stay at even with a poor location as it is only 4 mins walk to the metro and we would book up again on any return to Barcelona.
On a down side Barcelona in general is rampant with pick pockets many tourist get robed every day mostly on the train to and from the airport and on any very busy train or metro station so take every precaution. << Click here to read less

But we could make our way easily to the beach barceloneta, which is on same metro line. Rooms were very huge and very well maintained. The hotel has a large reception ,lounge and bar area and the prices are reasonable. The hotel is located slightly away from the main tourist roads but is close to the Metro system for easy access to all the main areas of Barcelona. The price that I got from Roomsnet.com was very good for bed and breakfast for this standard of hotel . I booked a two night stay for a group of my friends over the internet, thankfully the service and standard of accomodation was excellent. situated about 2 miles outside the main Barcelona City Centre, but within 1 mile of the Port Olympic, both easy to reach for a couple of Euros via cabs arrnged by the hotel, or a good walk depending on your want. The surrounding area to the hotel is semi commercial/industrial, but this did not enjoy this City break in any way at all. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. the facilities are excellent and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. It is a distance away from the centre of Barcelona but the hotel is situated close to two metro stations which means that travelling around is incredibly easy. There are a few rock bars around the hotel but we only heard noise on the Saturday night-the barman did say this was unusual as there was a festival being celebrated. The hotel bar is nice for a drink on returning for the evening, the Sangria especially being very tasty! We were really impressed with this hotel. The twin room and bathroom were bigger than your average hotel room/bathroom - very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Our stay included breakfast which surpassed my expectations - everything from scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage to fresh fruit and yoghurt exceptional value for money. All the staff were friendly and very eager to help.
The only downside was the location - the area was a little run down, but we were told is currently being redeveloped. On the other hand, the metro was only a ten minute walk away, a fifteen minute walk to the beach/marina, and a thirty minute walk to the cathedral. I plan to visit Barcelona again, and would not hesitate returning the the Pere Iv, and recommending it to others. << Click here to read less

Arrived back to the hotel at about 3 am on a weekend night and the street just south of the hotel was filled with hundreds of young people. During the day, you would not have realised that the area was popular for clubbing. Most of the buildings had metal pull down doors covered with graffiti. The hotel and staff were very nice and very accomodating. Also, the buffet breakfast was very good with a great choice of foods.

Overall we were very pleased. Quiet and pleasant room. On the small side but we were not in the room long enough for this to be a problem. My only critisim was that we had no bidet and the small plastic bags provided for feminine rubbish were not replaced.
The restaurant staff were also a bit slow to clear dirty plates from the tables at breakfast, but all staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.
The area is a bit drab and looks like it is in the process of being renovated.

Hotel a little isolated from beach, restaurants etc. Also lacking outdoor swimming pool,seating etc. Oherwise first class.
