we enjoyed our stay at the Icaria Hotel is was very clean the staff were helpful and friendly the gym/swim facilities were an added bonus as the pool was still open in november it was cold but a swim and then a dip in the hot tub was invigorating then 10 minutes in the sauna dried us off and warmed us up / the breakfast was very good both hot and cold food on offer and a variety of drinks.There was a bus stop outside of the hotel which was handy and places to eat nearby and it was a short walk to the sea. we would definately use the hotel again << click here to read less |

We stayed for 3 nights on the 28th April 2009 and found this to be a very nice modern hotel. We normally stop in the centre of Barelona but the price of this hotel far outwayed the advantages of stopping in the centre. It is a good 45 minute walk from the Ramblas but it is only a five minute walk down onto the beach and 15 minutes and you have the whole of the eating places around the Marinaa. The nearest metro is 10 minutes away. The rooms were clean and had large airy windows although the TV had all spanish channels. The breakfast had a good assortment with hot and cold food. There was a good area to relax and sunbathe by the pool with confortable beds. We will definately go back to this hotel as even though you have to walk/metro to the centre it was great just to wander down to the beach of a night time to have a plesant walk and stop at a beachhside cafe.

My wife and I were just arrived in front of the hotel at day one of our honey moon trip to Barcelona and my wife's hand bag was stolen by a thief with a scooter. The hotel personell very amazingly helpful in that situation. They gave us a business suite instead of a normal room and even took us to the police station after they got out of work. I mean outside their working hours! In police station they were priceless help in translating since the local police speak nothing but spanish.
The hotel was in very good in other ways too. The breakfast was substantial and the room was well air conditioned. If you like shopping the location could be better but on the other hand it is quite near the beach.
If I went to Barcelona another time, I would stay in this hotel again. << click here to read less |

Having taking the decision to base my wedding party in the Hotel Icaria and availing of 20-30 rooms, the concensus was that the hotel was superb. Very modern, ideally located to the beach/marina. The staff were friendly, the facilities good and the rooms adequately spacious. Pool area is relatively small but nice and pool bar/restaurant is comfortable.
Two comments/suggestions I would make is that we found the service in the pool bar/restaurant very slow and that alcohol drinks in the hotel very expensive.
But in saying that it, all guests thoroughly enjoyed their stay in the Hotel Icaria and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the hotel for making my wedding that little more special. Till next time. Ian,Dublin. << click here to read less |

Just a few minutes walk to barcelona beach. The only negative really I would like to point out is the cost of food and drink from the pool side snack bar. ?7 for bottle of Corona beer and lunch for two with soft drinks was ?55. The Hotel advertised 'room service' 24 hours - this was certainly not the case, despite a good room service menu, and regardless of what we ordered, all we received were ham and cheese sandwiches, that were definitely not fresh, and we still had to pay for them, even though we didn't order them! I think these sandwiches gave me food poisoning - though i couldn't eat them all anyway.
Staff in the main not helpful when we enquired about directions to the beach area or somewhere to eat late when we arrived from the airport - unapproachable, and I was with someone that could speak spanish.
Breakfast buffet not fresh everyday - they put out the same ham and cheeses from the previous day - therfore unedible.
Though initial impression of the hotel good (foyer), rooms were incredibly small - definitely not worth the money, plus the shower was not always hot.
The location was good, but i would definitely NOT reccomend this hotel to anyone. << click here to read less |

reception staff were excellent and went out of their way to help.
one major gripe- breakfast- the HOT buffet was completely cold on the first morning- eggs, bacon, sausages, baked beans ALL stone cold.
a complaint to the resteraunt manager meant things improved SLIGHTLY the next day, but for three full mornings we were there the beans were always COLD and not only that0 it was apparent that it was the same dish of beans that was trawled out each day- not very good food hygeing practice!
having said that- the buffet was otherwise plentiful and we didnt go hungry!
would stay again due to the fab location close to Barcalonetta beach area, nice . clean, and felt very safe to walk arouind even late at night! << click here to read less |

We were really pleased that it was so easy to get to the beach (5 min walk) and the city centre (10 min bus ride from right outside the hotel), and to pick up the city tour bus just around the corner. There is building work going on adjacent to the hotel, but we did not notice any noise. It might be worth asking for a room facing the front of the building, if work is continuing. No problem leaving our luggage in the storeroom until our evening flight - our experience of the staff was friendly and helpful. More attractive on the inside than on the outside, set in a quiet area, with a lovely comfortable terrace area to relax in, we and our teenage children would happily return to Icaria again. << click here to read less |

We have just returned from 4 nights at the Icaria and had a wonderful holiday. The hotel was excellent and we found the staff very friendly and helpful. There was always someone on reception who spoke good english.The rooms were very quiet, spacious, clean and comfortable.The only negative was our six year old daughter burnt her arm on one of the halogen lights by the bedside trying to switch the light off. Our children loved the swimming pool and the terrace area was great to sit and enjoy Sangria in the evening.The hotel was in a quiet and safe location but only a five minute walk to Icaria beach and Port Olympic. The Bus Touristic stop was a few minutes away and an excellent way to explore Barcelona. The Jacuzzi in the middle of the mirrored bedroom was a luxurious touch. Massive breakfast, loads of space in the room, walk-in wardrobe, shower, toilet, the jacuzzi, lcd tv. The only complaint I would have is that the night staff were quite grumpy (maybe not enough sleep). They could do with making more of an effort. Situated just five minutes walk from the beach and directly across from the stop for the tour buses, it suited our needs perfectly. 9.9/10 << click here to read less |

This is a lovely hotel, very modern, crisp and clean - we had a fantastic bathroom. The pool and bar area is very nice with lovely sofas and cushions outside which gave it a very relaxed feel. The balmy evenings mean you can stay out here enjoying the evening till well after midnight. We didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on the food. The staff were very nice, efficient and spoke excellent English. It is very convenient for the Icaria beach which is pretty much next to Barcelonetta but a bit smaller. The pool is a bit small and tends to be dominated by children but I would imagine its great for people with kids. There is also a gym area and sauna and steam room. My only complaint was that they are currently building next to the hotel so the building work started at 8.30 in the morning - this won't last forever and is ok at weekends - It is only intermittent noise and it depends where your room is. << click here to read less |

Our daughter enjoyed the free internet facilities although with only three terminals, you must expect to queue sometimes. It was a very short walk to the beach front and there was a nice cinema/shopping complex within walking distance of the hotel. 10 of us stayed at the Hotel Icaria for my Hen Weekend in late May/early June. It is a very big, modern hotel which is close to the beach but the surrounding area looks (and smells!) awful and the view from the rooms really let the hotel down. We experienced some very unhelpful staff and also some very helpful, friendly staff. Our rooms were 90 mins late being cleaned so 10 of us had to squeeze into 1 room while we waited, which wasn't a good start but they did give us late checkout (5pm) on 1 of the rooms to compensate. We were also expecting triple rooms to have 3 beds but they only had 2 beds and a campbed, so it was a bit of a squeeze. The pool area is lovely but it is a little scary when you have a huge crane dangling slabs of concrete above your head! The gym, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and seating areas are really luxurious and room service is very good. The rooms were very modern and spotlessly clean and the facilities are excellent. I would class this as a hotel more suitable for business than leisure but overall we enjoyed our stay there. << click here to read less |

Whilst we found the hotel clean and value for money we did encounter 2 problems: 1) after a day of walking and site seeing we decided to have a night in on the terrace and eat at the hotel however when we came back to the hotel the terrace was shut for most of the evening for a private function and other than the restaurant there was no where else to go and enjoy a drink. and 2) after a few drinks by the Port we decided to head back to the room and have room services. When we tried to order food we were told that they had had a busy day and that there was no room service, after a little more talking it appears that although it says 24 hr on the menu they don't actually offer it and there wasn't/isn't anyone in the kitchen in the night. Very new and quite modern. There are better deals, but one could do much worse, as well. Well worth the money and the Olympic village is a 10 minute walk. The staff was extremely helpful and pointed us to restaraunts. Find a market, though, and sample the wines the locals drink, not the restaraunt variety. We ate beef once the whole eight days. The seafood is amazing and goat from burgos is quite tasty.
There is a bus stop less than a mile away and the Metro is a four block walk. If you are there for more than a few days, get thee to the tourist info booth and buy the "Barcelona Card"(we bought ours at Placa Catalunya). All transport on buses and trains is included and we learned our way around quickly and it really cut our travel expense down. << click here to read less |

Hotel Icaria is superbly situated for all the major attractions, yet is only 300metres from the beach and restaurants. The hotel was vey clean and buffet breakfast was plentiful. The outside seating area and pool are great. I would highly recommend this hotel and I will use it again when returning to Barcelona. << click here to read less |

We had wonderful holiday. Hotel good location. Food good. Inclusive breakfast enough to see us through to dinner time, but reasonably priced lunches available if required. Spoilt ourselves with relaxing massage in spa. Rooms clean and spacious. We did request twin rooms, which weren't available on day of arrival. However we were offered opportunity to change later, but as so comfortable decided to stay. New linen and towels daily. On last morning when we couldn't open safe, help was on hand within minutes. Reception and restaurant/ bar staff good english compensating for our lack of spanish or catalan. Would definitely choose icaria again if returning to Barcelona. << click here to read less |
