My daughter & I stayed at the H10 Montcada at the end of August 2008. The hotel itself cannot be faulted. It is in an ideal location for getting about Barcelona. All the staff are very friendly and will go out of their way to help you no matter what. We went up to the rooftop and had tapas and drinks, its great! We also had a meal in the hotel, 3 courses for 20 euros each and a treat from the chef. Well worth the money. This was my fourth time in Barcelona and I must say this is the best hotel I have stayed in. I've got the Barcelona bug so I know that I will be returning to the H10 Montcada. Can't wait to go back. Our arrival at the Hotel was greated with a glass of nicely chilled Cava. Nice touch. The reception staff were well informed helpfull, gave us a guide book, map and even took the time to show us our location the nearest metro stop and the key points of interest.
THe hotel location was great on Via Laietana running parralel with Ramblas. Right opposite is a metro stop and within yards of the old cathedral and roman walls in the Barri Gotic. A 5 minute walk to the harbour to link with Ramblas or around 10 minutes across town to also link with Ramblas at the upper end. We preferred the La Ribera area that was behind the hotel - far les touristy and full of local flavour.
We tried the rooftop bar of the hotel and watched the sun go down over the city with a glass in hand - very nice. THe buffet breakfast was adequate - loads of fresh breads and fruit, a table of cold meats and another of pastries. Big selection of juices, teas and coffees, I did not try the hot food but I might imagine there could be a complaint about the lack of choice minor detail but I had no complaint.
I've stayed in a lot pricier hotels and got less than I did here - all in all a reasonable hotel at a reasonable price - I would have no hesitation to recommend it to my friends if they were staying for a long weeekend. Read Less

We found the staff so helpful and welcoming. We arrived at 11am so the rooms were not ready. We were offered a glass of champagne, then another and another which put us in great form for the day. The roof-top terrace was fab and the breakfast was superb. We will certainly be recommending the H1O Montcada to all our friends. Read Less
