We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights just before Christmas 2006. The room was lovely on first apperence, but on a closer inspection you could see that some of the decor was a bit tatty, the wallpaper was scuffed in parts, the lampshades were a bit dirty. The bathroom was basic, the hot tap dripped hot water on to your feet whilst you were in the shower. The breakfast was really nice, recommend getting down there earler, as the food is on display, so it dries up a bit and the hot food is only warm. The staff were all really accomadating, apart from the chamber maid, who on the last day, whilst we were packing, asked if she could clean the room whilst we were in there, we said no, we were packing and due to check out by 12, but I said it would be more like 11.30, she then said if you could make it for 11, that would be great, but this was at 10.45!!! The hotel is in a fairly nice area, dam square is a 10 minute stroll away, Van Goch museum about 25 minute walk away. Didn't use the public transport, everything was within a reasonable walking distance. We got a fantastic deal on this hotel, where we paid about 40% of their normal rates, however I would not pay their full rates to stay here. If I were to come back to Amsterdam, if I could get another good deal on this hotel I probaly would stay here again, but would check out other hotels first. More >> |
